I look at LSU and Odell Beckham was a guy who could have con either way, is now a WR and we seem to be lacking the in DB department.

Speaking of this...how much pressure is on these young college DB now?

Holy hell. It never gets better from college to the pros. These guys really are on an island. What a way to try and make money.

I know was just messin with ya. I agree you need defense look at us this year with one exception we scored 30+ and had 4 losses. With even a marginally better defense that probally is 1 and possibly 0 losses. I just think with equal talent a balanced spread team will win is all. Key word there is balanced.

But if miles moved Jarvis or ODB to DB to fix those holes, people would shite all over him for it bc they're so successful at WR.

I think OBJ could have gone either way, and we chose WR and clearly it has worked out, but we haven't recruited that level of talent at DB until this year, but freshmen are freshmen.

Truth There seems to be some misconception about the spread and the SEC. It seemed to me coming into the SEC that the "spread" wont work in the SEC because of the defenses here. Spread can work with the proper personnel. In fact the spread, run correctly, can offset talent gaps between defenses and offenses. A less athletic offense can be successful against a superior athletic defense in this system. The spreads origins are firmly based in this concept. Its not surprising to see refined spread be successful against superior defenses now that the culture and physicality of playing the game are changing.

kilo prior to um & tamu coming to the sec all the talk was, that the spread will never work in the big bad sec.

cam newton proved the spread could work in the sec.

johnny solidified it..

mizzou showed with a little defense you can win with it..

Mizzou proved the key to winning the East these days is having the most ACLs

reason that Alabama has won 3/4 NC. I don't deny a shift is happening, but every championship team I ever played on in football had great D. It is just the way the sport is designed

correction.. the reason bama won 3/4 was a lucky elephant foot in their back pocket... 09' colt got hurt, 11' voters voted okie st out the title game, and 12' voters drop them just enough to keep them in the hunt just like 2011.. bama is so overrated especially vs a capable spread team.

Didn't the Tebow NC teams run something that was considered a "spread" by a lot of people?

As opposed to the injuries that Mizzou had last year?

How can some of you with a straight face ignore the injuries that Mizzou had last year but count their opponents this year to discredit Mizzou?

Mizzou is an SEC team now. We were forced to make adjustments because this league is better but to be this hypocritical about this shite, well, it kind of make some of you look silly.

The east isnt "down". Mizzou and South Carolina are at the top instead of Georgia and Florida.

Some folks just need to "deal"

Is this a thinly veiled reference to the rumored "extra muscle" that african americans posses in their legs?

Like, having the most african american players is the key to victory?

If so, I do not approve of this post.

not true at all sec is no better than the big12. just a bunch of media hype..

Clemson twice fsu & Louisville proved that the sec put on their pads the same way every other team does. Louisville and Clemson are spread teams and neither has the talent lsu, uga or uf have.

I just dont think that player safety has to equal "offense all day every day" but it seems thats the path they are heading down.

Nah, even the player safety talk is not a new phenomenon in football. It happens every so often then there is an equipment upgrade and it's forgot about for a few years.

Just look back over the years, hell the game was started wearing leather helmets. Now look at the helmets. There is a few changes coming with equipment that will handle the safety issues.
