It is of no surprise that Alabama fans would say they love Verne...he might as well wear a bib when talking about Bama. Its like watching the Cowboys on Fox with Aikman and the arse clown Buck.

Wait, what? Are you sure you aren't talking about *Brando and LSU?

The difference is that no one that I know affiliated with LSU likes or gives a shite about Brando. The opposite is true with Verne, who is objectively terrible at calling college football games.

I'd be fine with a Brando/Gary pairing

Brando does fine as a PBP guy.

Nessler is awful PBP, CBS dumped Blackledge for Gary so he's not coming back and if you want to hear a really really bad color analyst listen to the notre damer CBS had doing the Arky-LSU game. Brutal, just horrid

LOL. Gary is an elite football mind, Verne is a blathering idiot.

I wouldn't mind seeing Brad Nessler fill that spot!

Nah, get Musburger. He'll have the cameras scan the crowd for hotties.

Dafuq? Gary is the best in the business, and verne is likely the worst.

Verne is good as just a talking head but Gary absolutely has the best insight into play by play football I have seen. As someone already said, it's down right uncanny how Gary can call plays before they happen and his is usually right on target in assessment of controversial calls.

Fixed. Love Verne. Like watching football with my grandfather.

Verne's contract was up at the end of this season
I hope so and hope it is NOT renewed.

they would maybe replace Gary as well
I hope not. I think he might be the best analyst in the business.

Tim Brando
I would be ok with that, but I am sure they could find someone a little less controversial.

Jim Nantz makes $5 million a year for the events he does. There's no telling what he'd charge for doing college football every saturday.

This.
Verne is the worst in the business. He has no insight, usually gets things blatantly wrong, and is just generally annoying. The only person in broadcasting that I dislike more than Verne is Dick Vitale.

A lot of that is from watching film, but these guys do get a heads up from coaches during the week. But I do agree that Gary is good. Not as good as Blackledge, but good, nonetheless.

Nessler is the best PBP guy out there now. I especially like it when he says a phrase that he's used for the NCAA Football EA sports franchise.

"He got all of that one."

ETA: The only knock I have on Gary is that he overreacts to things too often. Sometimes a 3 yard gain is just a 3 yard gain.
