Is the Kevin Steele hire the Lane Kiffin hire of 2015?

Lots of parallels. Bama let their old OC walk to a lesser program due to under-performing/needing something fresh on the team, we did the same with our old DC. Both have had some successes and some embarrassments on their resumes, and both are MUCH better recruiters than the old coordinators. Both could (potentially) make it to the CFB playoff despite having questions on their respective sides of the ball and doubt from many fans.

Thoughts?

Steele can't coach a secondary. All that five star talent at Defensive Back and they get hammered by any qb with a pulse

Steele and O are doing a good job so far.

I wonder about Kiffin sometimes.

Someone needs to photoshop Les Miles driving a sleigh with Steele's head poking out of a giant red sack in the back with the caption "The Gift That Keeps on Giving"

It was so refreshing not giving up a touchdown on the final two drives of the Florida game.

It's possible, but I think will require longer to validate. You generally will see offensive improvements more quickly than defense. Takes longer to build a top-to-bottom D vs using gimmicks to cover weaknesses on offense. He's a good coach and great recruiter. One thing I'm pretty sure he is not is a walking cancer.

This LSU defense is equal or worse than the 2013 defense. The home stretch will prove that. Steele is not close to an improvement over Chavis. Please stop trying to convince people. Steele is a recruiter and a decent Lb coach. He is a below average to terrible DC. He got this job because he is the Chief's best friend and Miles was desperate.

Solid melt. From a Vandy fan which is classic.

100% upgrade from the old regime. #SteeleCurtain

If Steele cleans up the busted coverages in zone he's been a home run. We lost a good coordinator that was an F recruiter and managed to get two A+ recruiters back in the deal.

Steele seems to have more situational awareness than Chavis. He understands that yards don't matter. Hell, points don't even matter in a lot of cases. What matters is winning and getting stops when you need them. Chavis was TERRIBLE at that. Steele is better.
