Is the Heisman Trophy fixable or is it a lost cause?

Lamar Jackson winning the Heisman over Watson may be a new low for this supposedly prestigious award. Which is saying a lot considering its history of screw ups.

Can anything be done to improve the metrics or voting by which the award is given?

There's such a fixation on stats and ESPN hype. The media talking heads annoint front runners and crown winners. The voters can't watch every game around the country.

Is it time to just flush the Heisman down the toilet with the Noble Peace Prize as joke awards?

If you were charged with fixing it what do you do?

Derrick Henry last year was a pretty big goof as well.

I quit giving a frick about the Heisman trophy a long long time ago. I can't remember the last time the best player actually won it.

Why don't they wait until after championship game to issue it?

Disagree. Lamar Jackson had the best regular season. He deserved the award.

It's not Jackson's fault LSU broke their dick off in him.

Blame his cheating coach and scapegoat OC.

Both Bamas Heismen are bad picks, Ingram was worse.

I mean Ingram and Henry won it based on hype. Henry was far more deserving than Ingram though.

Biggest Heisman Snub: Marshall Faulk in 1992
Place Name Position
1st Gino Torretta QB
2nd Marshall Faulk RB

This is when I realized the Heisman voting is garbage!

Who should have gotten it over him then?

I don't recall there being a clearly better back in the same division when Ingram won it. Even with the bad Nov factored in, LF was an obviously better back last year.

Could not agree more. Some say Gino was very hungover for the NCG but I'm not buying that.

The fact that Mark Ingram and Derrick Henry have a heisman trophy tells you how big of a joke it is.

The worst was when Peyton didn't win the Heisman. Marshall Falk losing to Gino second. Charles Alexander losing to Archie Griffin's 2nd was also bogus.

I think using stats as the primary driver of the award is a big part of the problem.

Different systems produce different stats and such.

Stats should be one aspect considerrd but not the most important thing.

Henry basically won the Heisman by upstaging Fournette last year.
Watson had a stronger case last year and should have won last year.

The Downtown New York Athletic Club hasn't changed their policy since it's inception of the Heisman. Ain't gonna happen
