And our current coach owns those two wins.
I don't think many of you realize A&M's first year in the SEC was also our coach's first year as HC in Aggieland.
Is he supposed to take responsibility for his predecessor's losses?

Serious question: Do you believe most of what you post, or do you simply enjoy debating anything/everything?

Recent history tells me they will struggle on offense, as Auburn post-Cameron Newton, Florida post-Tim Tebow and Texas post-Vince Young did. Another team that will suffer will be Clemson post-Tajh Boyd.

Another couple factors playing against Texas A&M are them playing in the SEC and having a terrible defense.

Will the loss of Johnny Manziel actually make A&M better?

I don't think losing Manziel could possibly make them better, but the talent surrounding Manziel will improve. They have been bringing in top recruits right and left and if Sumlin coaches them up the way he has been they should be in great shape on offense. Everything I've seen from Allen so far makes me think he's going to be good too (even though it's just been all-star games and highlights). Their defense should improve, but it has a long way to go and as far as I'm aware Mark Snyder is still there.

BamaDoc, if you're looking for another possibility for a Ewing theory team I think we've got one in Athens that is a contender (although I'm not sure we qualify with people writing us off).

Don't yet have a NC, but 2012 final AP ranking was #5 and 2013 was #18.
That's not not winning shite.
You can say we have room to improve; but to claim we haven't won shite in the SEC is disingenuous.

Yep nothing has changed since those 3 losses, A&M is still in the Big 12 and coached by Sherman, meanwhile Arkansas still has Ryan Mallett and coached by Petrino.

I just don't see A&M being better this year after those losses. Again, this theory would require an improvement. As said above, they also still have a limited defense and play in a conference and division with pretty damn strong teams this year. That all works against them.

I just don't see it this year but you never know until the season starts what kind of stuff these kids have for the upcoming season. I predict the SEC West to be a brutal division once again though. Prayers for Arky.

Didn't follow A&M football during the never-ending Franchione years, huh?
Apart from the brief time before we saw his first team hit the field for the first time, bright moments were never forecasted.

Considering football is a completely different sport and they also lost Matthews and Evans, I don't think that applies here.

The sleeper team this year isn't on anybody's sleeper list

A&M's offense is gonna move the ball. This will be the first year Sumlin's offense is run.

The ceiling will be determined by the amount of improvement on defense.

This is college football, every year teams lose players and somehow teams are able to stay good. Theres a reason LSU has a top 25 defense despite sending 10+ JR/SR to the NFL draft.

A&M on offense is the equivalent of LSU/Bama on D.

possible. Sumlin has not gotten to run his offense yet bec of JFF. He finally gets to bust out his 65-35 pass offense and see what it can do in the SEC.

It's more like 60/40, but yeah, this will be interesting to see. I think due to the inexperience of the QBs, we'll see more running plays than Sumlin would normally call (for example, in 2010, when Houston lost Case Keenum, and Sumlin was using 3rd string true freshmen QBs, the Pass/Run split was 55/45).

UTx didn't struggle on offense after Vince Young, they essentially reloaded w/ Colt McCoy. During those years, their "low" point on offense was ranking #22 in Scoring.

There's no guarantee that Kyle Allen or Kenny Hill will be able to pick up the baton, but it's premature to count them out. Plus, even w/ Matthews and Evans gone, there is still a ton of talent on the offensive side of the ball (OL - Ogbuehi/Ifedi/Harrison; WR - RSJ/Speedy; RB Trey Williams/Tra Carson)

As for the defense, we'll see what guys like Myles Garrett can do. Our D was a lot better in 2012 when we had Damontre Moore giving us a pass rush.

Apparently we're the only program in history that has ever had multiple NFL first-rounders.
