Sure, I'm not going to say the other teams in the west are much higher than the rest of the east teams but rather as a whole they are a better group.

I've never been "exposed" and am one of the more informed and knowledgeable posters on this site. I've stated that your basketball team was severely overrated and it looks like my claims are slowly coming to fruition. I'm seldom proven wrong, and on the rare occasion I am - I have absolutely no problem admitting so

My signature quote seems to disagree with you, which is ironic because.... you'll figure it out.

one of these doesn't sound like the other.

Ole Miss is at most 9th best in the SEC, behind the Big 6, Arky and A&M, and that's being VERY generous. Two 9-3 seasons don't change that.

Oh definitely. This is inevitably the case, the top and bottom of the SEC - whoever that happens to be - largely dictates the perception of the divisions. Everyone in the middle will cling to whatever bolsters their case. In the 90's early 2000's, it was East is dominant - UT, UF, UGA while West had "bottom dwellers of Ole Miss, Miss St, and/or Arkansas" (depending on the years). Fast forward and now its "West staaaacked... no one can touch Alabama. Vandy, Kentucky sooo bad".

Right now, the top and bottom are pretty clear, everything in the middle is a giant question mark, but I would definitely agree that at least for the past few seasons, the West has been a harder division to play through. Anyone who wouldn't simply isn't being realistic.

but don't get high and mighty like your program is some untouchable juggernaut. You're not on the same level as Tennessee, and that's not a compliment.
Not once have I expressed this idea or anything remotely similar to it. Now with historical context thrown aside, Ole Miss and Tennessee are both in a very similar predicament as of February 5th, 2016. Some would even agree that the Rebels are in better shape going forward

The FPI doesn't... UT is in the preseason top 5. Ole Miss, nowhere to be found.

I'm one, you guys have the better Coach and a QB that can throw it over 10 yards.

I made this statement almost a week before it was announced that Ole Miss would be without two starters in this game.

UT has a QB who can throw it over 10 yards...he just isn't the starter.

Not going to bother trying to put together all the quotes, but this should paint the picture well enough:

quote:

wasn't the question in the OP concerning recruiting? Are you trying to argue Tennessee hasn't recruited well?

quote:

Not as well as Ole Miss

... followed by comments about historical record, wins over Vandy/Kentucky... it was pretty easy to connect the dots.

quote:

Now with historical context thrown aside, Ole Miss and Tennessee are both in a very similar predicament as of February 5th, 2016

This I will agree with. You are both starting a new season, both with lofty expectations.

quote:

Some would even agree that the Rebels are in better shape going forward

Who is this some? One might argue that UT has an easier path to an SEC championship given that they play in the east (though perma west rival of Bama is a pretty severe handicap). If they've recruited about on par with you and have what many (including myself) would be considered a slightly easier schedule, wouldn't that bolster the argument they're in better shape going forward?

I've said elsewhere that this is the put up or shut up year for Butch, because losing the east this year would put them in dire straits going forward. I guess the difference is Freeze has a couple of wins over Bama to hang his hat on, so not winning the division anytime soon might not cost him his job.

Only if you mean that they've recently won a Sugar Bowl, owned Alabama, and have awesome uniforms. Oh wait..

I'm pretty sure the standing line when UGA won the '08 Sugar is that it doesn't matter anymore... Must be even more true now that there is a playoff system.

...but not quite

it's negligible. the difference between an average of 11 and an average of 12 over 4 years isn't really different, especially given the subjective nature of recruiting to begin with
