Dude, he took WF to the tournament 7 damn times and had some good runs with Duncan. Even if we only had very limited success with Odom don't act like that was just bad hire.

Actually, from what I understand (which is very little about the situation) there were some ego issues from our administration under Hyman and Marshall. They just didn't get along.

And he was the Winthrop head coach, he hadn't made quite the mark he has now. And Horn also seemed like a good hire considering he made it to the Sweet 16 the year prior.

Dave was/is a great guy. Great guy. He was a solid hire at the time. He's one of the best people you will ever meet or get to know in the world. He sorta got dealt a bad hand.

Dave won a couple of NIT Championships but just could not get-over the hump ... he'd recruit well and then some dumbass kid would totally frick-it-up for the chemistry of his team. Rolando Howell, I could have strangled that kid.

Marshall was/is a total fricking prick. Mike could have hired him and basically ignored him after the interview, then Hyman could have hired him and did the same thing ... they both agreed he was a total fricking prick.

Marshall was/is a total fricking prick.

Martin is going to do fine here. He was actually a very good hire, I'll give Hyman his due for both Staley and Martin.
