I find this very interesting. Good coaches surround themselves with good coordinators. It's part of their job. Hire coaches that do the best at their respective positions. Alabama losing their DL coach, OC, possibly their DC, and whoever the the hell else, kinda makes you wonder if next year will be the true test to see what kind of coach Saban is.

Good coaches lose other coaches to new opportunities. They also make tough decisions to make changes. Yes I think Saban is a pretty good coach.

I think saban and Jimmy Johnson are very alike.

Both are great at evaluating talent, but are not great gameday x's and o's guys. Jimmy will admit to that. I have heard him do it. saban would never admit to it.

Perhaps not, but isn't this why you have coordinators?

He has performed rather poorly, failing to win a national title on several occasions

Shouldn't you win at Alabama though? I mean... historically, it's the greatest program of all time. It's not like he was stepping into USCe or Arkansas. I get the program was down before he arrived, but it doesn't take much to bring a program like Alabama back to relevance.
