Biggest PC bush league move since the sjw's were forced on us.

I never understood why tRant feels it necessary to bring up our mascot once a week as if any of us give a frick or get upset about it. We're no different than half the other teams in the league with a mascot not associated with what they're called or referred to.

It's different because yours was created as a result of political correctness and the higher ups at Ole Miss totally ignoring the overwhelming public opinion that wanted to keep Colonel Reb. Whereas other teams' mascots came about through tradition, the Black Bear's orgins were totally artificial. People mock it because it represents the PC stupidity of our modern culture.

I don't think the bear is gay or even dumb.

Its only funny to bring up because some UM-Oxford fans get pissed off about it.

Ole Miss should've used this as their new mascot. Just as relevant to OM as the Black Bear, and far more consistent with what this effort is really about.....hell, Ole Miss would get a courage award from ESPN, delivered by Brucette Jenner!

Ole Miss has no image whatsoever. Their brand and national identity is kind of like Tang. It got left back in the early 70's.

It is for merchandising and for the kids. The students that boo the Bear are idiots and of the same mold who wouldn't stop yelling TSWRA during FDWL.

I voted for the landshark when we had the mascot vote when I was in school. But idiots said it only dealt with football and wouldn't make sense with other sports. I told them they were stupid.

Black Bears are friggin sweet. Im glad we did away with the Colonel and instituted an animal as our mascot. Its fiercer than a bulldog (GA/MSU), Border Collie (A&M) and Pig (Ark). Could be worse. Just wish someone would tell the guy in the Colonel Reb costume to just give up already. Being upset or arguing at this point is pretty dumb. Students should unify efforts to get a live bear habitat in the corner of the grove. That's something we would all like to see.

I think the bear is silly and I'm not a PC fan. However, the bear pales in comparison to this pronoun idiocy. Since we live in this strange artificial PC world that seems to be continually getting worse, perhaps one day the move to the bear will be heralded as a good move by UM by getting ahead of the curve. If the Colonel had hung on for a few more years, his replacement choices may have been a fairy, an Oak tree, or a rainbow.
