They trot him out on the field for about 15 minutes. He was in front of the student section and they told him to go to hell. He went and sat down with the band.

Pathetic. RIP Daniel Jones.

Bring on Land Shark.

Still is and isn't going anywhere.

Sorry he isn't a great recruiting tool for your team.

Only by a handful of idiots that'll never be happy unless we bring the colonel back.

If by handful of idiots you mean the majority of student section then yes Only a handful of idiots.

I understand getting rid of the colonel. I disagree but I understand and have no real issues. What I can't support is a stupid arse mascot that has zero ties to the school other than it being forced on us.

Is it the Alabama Elephants? No, they're the Crimson Tide. The elephant is just a mascot. We are the Ole Miss Rebels and have a black bear as a mascot for the kids.

I never understood why tRant feels it necessary to bring up our mascot once a week as if any of us give a frick or get upset about it. We're no different than half the other teams in the league with a mascot not associated with what they're called or referred to.

I never understood that either

Why the frick did you choose the generic Black Bear as your mascot?

who gives a shite if a mascot doesn't have any real ties to the school?

How many Bulldogs mascots don't actually have a real tie-in with the school?

It's a mascot....mascots are supposed to be cute and loved by kids.

The teddy bear was inspired by teddy Roosevelt when he released a captured bear in Mississippi.

Also a character in a Faulkner short story.

Also easily marketable.

There's three simple reasons just off the top of my head.

Admiral Akbar is all of those things, and more.

Y'all had the opportunity, and let it slide. For shame.

Except for the rights from George Lucas. That's kind of a big step in that process.

Y'all are the richest public university in Mississippi. That shouldn't be a problem, right?

It's funny because it's recent.

Most schools with "dual mascots" have had them for decades. Ole Miss was forced to adopt a new one because theirs was/is pretty much undeniably rooted in racism

That's gonna be fodder for a good while. Deal with it.

It doesn't really bother me that much. If all someone can do is complain about our mascot...I figure we're doing pretty well.
