Or is Gus just that bad?
Serious question.

We'll see when Aranda and Canada leave for HC jobs

A bad coach with talented players makes for weird and inconsistent results week by week.

beating Gus Malzahn and Kevin Steele is not an impressive feat. O is still pretty terrible. No reason LSU shouldn't be 7-0 right now

No, he's not a good coach.
He's a great coach.

I'm not willing to call Coach O a good Coach for at least three years.
You don't earn "Good Coach" in one season or even two however if the product on the field demonstrates marked improvement for three seasons I'd feel he earned the title.
That said I am pulling for him and hope he really gets things going for us.
It would be nice to beat Bama a lot more often.

If he isn't given an extension you never know what might happen. Colts opening could be very appealing.

Don't know. One thing is clear, O can motivate his players even when their down and get them to play with a fire in their belly, something that some coaches can not do

Good point, it does appear he did get a young team that had previously been crushed by Miss State and then lost to Troy to play their hearts out even though we were down 20 to 0 very early. It could have easily turned into a blood bath.

Gus going conservative until he let LSU back in the game made O look good. Hopefully it saved his job at LSU for a couple of years.

Yes he's right behind Saban. He's closing in on him fast too.

A vocal minority has always loved him because he wasn't Les and because he's from South Louisiana. After beating Auburn the sheep segment (most of the fan base) love him now.
You have to understand the level of football ignorance of the average LSU football fan to really understand.

Well, he's better than Florida and Auburn's coaches but not as good as Miss. State and Troy's coaches.
