What he did in 72 hours at Auburn is insane
Got two commitments? How is that insane?

I think Bobby Bowden in his day was better.
Agreed.

Even worse. Had two legit games each year.

Only Bama fans would downplay the strength of FSU inteh 80s and 90s.

but points are skewed when you have a Bama alumnus that owns the site that rates the players.

It would just be nice to only have to play 1 game a year, and that game is a non conference game.

Which one game? The Miami game or the UF game or the ND game?
Posted on 8/26/14 at 10:48 am to parkjas2001
Well Miami wasnt in the conference in the time we are talking, and they only played 5 times. They only played ND 3 times in the period we are talking about. So obviously I meant the UF game.

You dont get ranked in the Final 4 for 14 straight years without knowing how to recruit.
It helps that you're in the ACC for much of that, but that was one heck of a run.

He is a huge Bama fan, sidewalk fan it appears but huge fan none the less.
Huge fan? Absolutely. You know what he's a bigger fan of, though? Money. That's why they've been so open about their formula for ranking. No secret formula that ends up with Bama on top. The formula is the same for all kids and all recruits so no one can question the integrity of the formula.

He did have a major stake in Rivals.com
He sold Rivals nearly 10 years ago to Yahoo! for $100M. Obviously, Shannon didn't get all of that as there were several other investors, but he did alright. HE waited out the non-compete clause of the sale and then created a new network that quickly proved to be the best in the industry. Rivals (Yahoo) hates it, but even they still rank Bama high yearly.

Saban is a great recruiter. His numbers back it up. However, like every other coach in the world, he can only be that way at a place like Bama, LSU, Florida, Ohio St, etc. If Nick was the head coach of Kentucky, West Virginia, Rutgers or Utah, he wouldn't be bringing in #1 classes every year.
Wrong.
Bruce Pearl at Auburn. Current top 3 recruiting class in the country at one of the historically shittastic basketball programs in sports.
A good recruiter knows how to use a program's strengths, diminish its weakness, and construct new reasons to believe. Maybe Saban wouldn't have a #1 class every year at Rutgers, but I bet he'd crack the top ten every year and once he started winning again and putting guys in the NFL draft, he'd have top 5 finishes.

Shannon Terry is:
A) not a Bama alumnus,
B) not the sole owner of 247 Sports, and
C) has no ownership stake in Rivals, Scout, or ESPN, which also rank Bama's classes very high.
fricking owned.
