Carson Palmer and RGIII, thats 4 out 14, and in NFL odds for offensive skill positions, thats pretty good

Was the best runner on his team last year. Probably will be this year.
There's really not a single game situation in which I would want Mark Ingram at RB.. especially if Pierre was healthy. Saints need him to have one good season.. if we can get one productive year out of him this would be the year to do it. We have a superbowl caliber defense and the offense will be elite as always.
We really need him to step up.

If Ingram would have gone to a team that's game plan is built around the run like the Titans/Steelers/Ravens instead of the Saints that use 3 or 4 different backs and have a wide open spread offense I think he would have had (and may have) a better chance for success.
Look at Steven Ridley, a great back, but hard for him to maintain consistency in NE's multi-back spread offense.
Ingram is a running back that got better the more carries he got and the longer the game went on. Unfortunately for him, that's just not the way the NFL is built anymore.

He did score a TD last year so he has that going for him. Three years in the league.
Not sure I caught the slam, here. He has 11 career TDs. Three years in the league. That's one more TD than Tate (who has more yards and more YPC).

This isn't entirely true. Just watch the videos of Chris Johnson and why he fell off. He has no vision. They were showing some breakdowns about how often he makes terrible decisions running the football costing himself potential yards on nearly every running play. He still has elite speed.
agree completely. i was so mad when the titans gave him that huge deal a few years ago. guy only looks for the big play every time he gets the ball instead of taking what is given to him. i also knew the minute he got his big payday, his production wouldn't come near what it was prior. such a waste

I would almost say it does. Win the Heisman, and your career will be shite. The only success stories I can remember from this century are Bush, and Cam.
prior to his Injury RGIII was successful. Sam bradford has been pretty good too, was OROY in 2010. he had a great year in 2012 and was having a really good year last year prior to getting hurt. Carson palmer hasn't been great the past few years but made 2 straight pro bowls. But yes, on the whole, winning the Heisman is not a good indictor of future success at all; however, the odds for any player to be a star in the nfl are low.

Considering he will likely be in the league for 5 years with mediocre production, I will not call him a bust.
An under performer? Yes.

Tate was a 2nd round pick. Ingram a 1st round.

Still gettin dem checks while UT is poaching Alabama's leftovers. You'd think as miserable as UT has been the last few years, you guys would be reluctant to talk shite.

You seem to have a bad homer complex. He was just simply pointing out the obvious.

Those two do suck, actually

No not if your team is Alabama and you use that as a gauge. I like to see players reach the NFL if that's their dream, and obviously that is /was one of Marks.

quote:I'd say NO. He waun the Heisman and was highly rated. He needs to lose some weight. The NFL is loaded every year with very good running backs.
If he progresses into a 2nd String back instead of making the jump to First String, is this still a successful pick?

One of these days Kids are gonna wise up and try other positions rather than running back if they want a long career in the league.

I don't believe he was good enough for a 1st round pick. The bust language comes from the place he was drafted. His draft just happened right before RB's were devalued in the NFL draft. If he had been taken in the 3rd round he would just be trying to earn a check. Not a bust.

a bust is someone completely out of the NFL after a couple of season. A first round draft pick who is second string is just a dude drafted too early

There is a board for this kind of question. I'll give you a hint: it's not called the SEC Rant.

At Bama it is about the OL not the RBs.....

With a few exceptions, NFL RB's have become journeymen utility infielders of MLB. There is no reason to invest a lot of $$ there.
