Admittedly, I don’t follow college baseball at all and know very little about the teams. It seems, however, that a substantial group of Kentucky fans are jumping on the wagon for this team, despite Kentucky being pretty average in the past. Can someone with more background following college baseball tell me if they are “real” (legimately good/title contenders), or have they caught some breaks and had a good season but maybe more of a fluke? I looked for run differential stats which I find to be a pretty solid indicator in MLB, but didn’t see any.

No. It’s a product of a fortunate schedule.

Pretty average in the past is being too kind.

We're 20-7 so far in the league. Take one game at a time and see how it goes. I would've been happy this year with a tourney birth.

If you're wondering how far we go, our pitching has been awful lately. Gotta get that cleaned up. Just enjoy the ride.

Kentucky has the #7 SOS in the country right now. And #1 in RPI.

Uk in a position to host super which gives you home field advantage to Omaha
They were a pesky team last year and I watched them 5 times at lsu

Felt like we had a solid squad last season but had the unfortunate experience of running into LSU in the Supers.

This team feels more complete even with the drop off in pitching after the starters.

There are some very good teams in baseball this year but no dominant team. The door is open wide and Kentucky has as good a shot as any imo..

We had a slightly better bullpen last year it seems. But we did not have the offense that we do this year.

Are we in consensus that the Vols are the dumbest breed in this conference followed by R-Kansas and then the coonasses?

They’re two wins away from at least a share of the SEC championship. Yes they are very good.

Kentucky's Head Coach Mingione is a hell of a coach. He will continue to win and be in the thick of it for years to come. Wish we had him at Auburn.

The John Cohen pipeline is strong. Mingione, Butch Thompson, and Lane Burroughs (LA Tech) were all Cohen assistants that helped drastically rebuild State in the 2010’s. Now all have been successful as head coaches.

I mean UK Baseball did lose a weekend series to a non tournament team, Kennesaw State at home. Then they lost another weekend series at home against Tennessee.

I think they will choke in the Supers at home.

I am surprised at how y’all fell off this year, you looked good last year and I expected you to be in the thick of it.

Kentucky is a really good team. Not sure why you would even ask this question.
