No way ESPN or any other network is going to pay that kind of money for a game played on nights that people don't watch TV.

Kind of like New Years Eve?

I agree. The Final Four is on a Saturday afternoon. No reason the College Football Championship couldn't be there either if a deal wasn't worked out with the NFL....although I'm sure someone will chime in to tell me there is a good reason.

There is no way ESPN or any other Network is going to go head to head with the NFL on TV. Since ESPN is a television partner of the NFL, they will never be allowed (nor would they ever want to) go head to head with the NFL on the weekend. The NFL ratings dwarf college football ratings. Regular season Sunday afternoon NFL games have higher ratings than the College Football National Championship game.

The NFL plays a double header on both Sat and Sun on the weekend of the National Championship game. There simply is no room for a college game to be played during the weekend.

As for the New Year's Eve situation: As long as the College playoffs use the bowls for the semi-finals, there can't be playoff games on NY day if the Rose and Sugar are not hosting the playoff games. The Rose and Sugar Bowl's own the rights to their time slots on NY Day and they will not relinquish those rights.

Play the semifinals on Saturday 2 weeks after championship Saturday. Play the final the Monday after January 1.

Your welcome.

Yep. Have you seen the numbers on the free ads they have to give away because the ratings didn't hit the targets?

There os simply no room

BS...The NFL could move wildcard games to 1:00 and 4:00 and give up the 8:00 slot to CFB.NFL and CFB have always
had gentlemans agreements wkth each other regarding TV scheduling plus CFB provides a free farm system for the
NFL.

If CFB and TV execs really pushed the idea,I think the NFL would cooperate. Its the wildcard weelend not the conference finals.

You obviously don't understand anything about the NFL. They are never, ever going to move their games around for anything less than a Major historical National Event.

The NFL rules TV, not the other way around. Out of the Yearly Top 50 most watched sports events, college football only has 1 and that is the Championship game (and it comes in around #30).

Meanwhile, the NFL has over 30 Regular season games in the Top 50. And to top it all off, the Top 10 most watched Sports events during the year are all NFL playoff games with the Super Bowl number 1.
