This is the weirdest melt I've seen in a while.

Yes, Aranda was LB coach as a student at a division III school, how is that so hard to understand? You think DIII teams are shelling out actual money for all their assistant coaching positions?

LINK

quote:

Aranda was a standout boxer who came to Cal Lu with shoulder issues, never panned out as a player, and was breaking down film for the coaching staff shortly into his career.

"He started coaching when he was about 19 years old," McEnroe said of Aranda.

Aranda already spent a year as a DC/LB coach at a high school the year prior to 96-99. It wasnt like he had no idea what he was doing.

Has it hindered him in anyway?
This is an odd thing to not only find, but to then come the SECR and make a thread about it.

Here is an article on the coaching staff from Cal Lutheran. The current head coach, Ben McEnroe, was the OL coach in 98. It doesn’t explicitly state what his role was.

He said this regarding Aranda, “Aranda was a standout boxer who came to Cal Lu with shoulder issues, never panned out as a player, and was breaking down film for the coaching staff shortly into his career. ‘He started coaching when he was about 19 years old,’ McEnroe said of Aranda.”

Thank you for the article that proves my point! He broke down film, that's GA's and student assistants. Not assistants.

And now you're saying he was a high school defensive coordinator when he was 18 years old?

Dave Aranda. High school DC at the age of 18!

This keeps getting better

Except it says he started by breaking down film for the coaches, then it says he was COACHING by 19 years old there. So, he wa sin fact a coach, the LB coach. As it clearly states on his resume and other people with him there have said of him.

Why is is so hard to believe a D3 school would use someone like that who impresses them as an assistant coach? Agian you think DIII schools are working with big budgets and have 10 assistant coaches or something all paid well?

This was in the 90s on top of that.

So I guess guys who were with him there are lying too?

You should find a hobby. This is one of the strangest threads ever. It should age well. Baylor’s probably going to fire him. Great investigative journalism, bro. You did it!

No. most DIII's have like two full time assistants on defense, and then they have GA's and then student assistants

that's why they're call GA's and student assistants

He was the LB and DC in 2005 and 2006.

Which is what he bio says.

quote:

Before Delta State, Aranda spent two years as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at his alma mater, California Lutheran, where the Kingsmen led the conference in scoring defense and total defense. It was his second go-around with California Lutheran after serving as an assistant from 1996-99, while finishing his degree.

He coached at Delta State in 2007.

Aranda was the LB/DC at Cal Lutheran in 2005 and 2006.

Then they reference that he was also an assistant there while finishing his degree. Sorry he said he was an assistant while a student instead of a student assistant, but he didn’t say he was the LBs coach in 1996.

Direct quote from the head coach at the time of article being written:

quote:

"He started coaching when he was about 19 years old," McEnroe said of Aranda.

So again, the guy who was there when Aranda was there is also lying about Aranda coaching at 19 years old. That's what you're saying

GAs and Student Assistant in a normal capacity are not position coaches, that's not "coaching" positions. He flat out said he was COACHING at 19. This isnt a hard concept to understand when it's directly quoted for you.

2003-04 Houston (linebackers)

So he had the same position as a 19 year old that he had later at Houston?

At least he told the truth about his time at Texas Tech
Hell, looks like he was THE Defensive coordinator while he was still in High School.
The kid is a prodigy, he's very smart.
