Jay Jacobs/Auburn took the "Safe Route" with this hire much like Bertman did with Miles.
There were much "sexier" hires available that likely would have accepted either position.
He, like Miles, will be dependent on capable coordinators, other staff, etc.

If I'm an Auburn fan, my biggest concern is rooted in the defense. Chiz is suppossed to be a defensive guru, right? yet Auburn's defense has consistently sucked since he's been there. I know Roof is the "defensive coordinator", but so is Kirby Smart...right?

I don't think anyone knows for sure if the defense sucking is Roof's fault or Chiz's since they came at the same time. Roof will be gone after this year and we will get to see what a new guy can do. If he sucks too then it's definitely on Chiz

My friend's sister was Chizik's neighbor in Austin. Each families kids were friends.
I seem to remember the Longhorn D being lighted to shreds under his watch once Vince Young departed.
Muschamp improved them to an extent.

You are using the basis of AU getting stomped by yall this year to say that chiz is just a flash in the pan. You say that LSU competed against a good team in a down year in 2004, yet they didn't in 2008. So how is 2008 Lsu any different than 2011 au? What exactly is your point?

Actually that wasn't what I said at all. I think we identified your problem. I was responding to this post
and I said, that you can't necessarily dismiss a beating out of hand because lousy teams still compete. Example, a bad LSU team by our standards took the best Auburn team since 2000 to the wire. That LSU team didn't get demolished in a bunch of games though it did let one get out of hand in Athens. The point is the way a team loses can tell you something.
I defy you to quote where I said whether or not Chiz is a flash in the pan.

I dont buy that in college. Alabama was pretty good in 2009. Everyone was screaming BCS National Champions. They got run out of the Sugar bowl by Utah.
Lots of examples.
In college, you can not add 2 +2 and get 4 sometimes. =/=. Teams get down and teams rebound. Its a fluid situation.

What is exactly is your point? Is it that last years LSU teams was as good as last years Auburn team? That you should have won the game? What does any of this have to do with Chizik and his future at Auburn?

Yeah, I seem to recall LSU getting dismantled by Florida in 2008 by a 51-21 count.
So it's way premature to write off Chizik because of one game against LSU.
Auburn isn't that bad this year. LSU just happens to be that good (so far) and Auburn is struggling without Cam at QB. Just as in 2008 Florida was that good and we struggled with a freshman QB.
One game or one season does not a coaching career make...
