Chip Kelly inherits a surprising Nick Foles and Mike Vick and Saban has to deal with a washed up Culpepper.....so, thats a start right there as to why that's a big fat NO.

So Alabama and LSU were "miles ahead of the competition" when Saban arrived in Tuscaloosa and Baton Rouge? Or, perish the thought, maybe Saban had something to do with those schools achieving "miles ahead" status?

I think you could say they're equal. Think about it--there were several years when Oregon had only one loss and didn't clinch a BCS championship birth. Alabama went twice with a loss--a home loss, to boot--and got the opportunity. Chip didn't have those opportunities.

Nick Saban beat the Patriots 21-0 with a substitute teacher at quarterback.

Would Saban rock at Oregon?

Doubt it. NW talent sucks balls.

He didn't rock at Michigan State.

Couldn't even compete with Michigan let alone the Pac-12 or SEC.

Chip dethroned USC at Oregon - who was rolling nationally.

Saban is revered but he went to recruiting hot-bed LSU and revived a sleeping giant for a few years - bombed in the NFL - and then went to Bama.

Saban really hasn't proven to take a team to a title that isn't a traditional winner at the college or the next level - like Carroll built the Seahawks.

Carroll won a Natty in his 3rd year at USC and a Super Bowl in his 4th year in historically shitty Seattle.

Chip took the Eagles to the playoffs and took ol' NW crappy Oregon to the next level in being perennial contenders. Be like making Ole Miss awesome every year.

This entire board loves Saban - because it loves CFB and the South...but really - Saban is overrated to a degree taking a more intelligent well-rounded approach and view of his resume.

If he won Natty's at Michigan State - his Pro could be overlooked - but lets not act like this guy revives - middle of the rung programs...

He goes into huge programs and huge recruiting hotbeds and collects $500 just by passing GO.

And as we all know Nick Saban was a colossal failure at the NFL and he hasn't even sniffed the playoffs.

A 15-17 record equals "colossal failure"? Do you know what Pete Carroll's record was after his first two seasons in Seattle? 14-18. I guess he's even a bigger failure then, huh?

Well, the biggest failure is obviously you.

doesn't really matter, since kelly is coaching in the nfl, at the moment. if kelly were to leave the nfl, and go to a school like florida, LSU, usc, ect, i think he would be very successful, and probably win a national championship. having said that, it's kind of pointless, to compare the two.

Easily a better coach, not a better recruiter.

Pathetic thread.

Who the frick?

Bengals fans? Would cut off their left nut?

What NFL team would cut off their left nut?

What college team outside of the South powers would cut off their left nut?

Has he ever proved it in a non-power program in college that recruits itself?

Has he ever proved it in the NFL as a keen draft evaluator?

Apparently he's known to suck as a talent evaluator which is why he has to over-sign every year and promise poor kids spots and then when they don't produce - he cuts them...sorry kid, roll tide.

"We don't honor nuthin'"

Quote, end quote.

Sorry Bama fans...we're talking about totality of success at all levels...and - we're looking at Nick's entire resume from Michigan State to LSU to the NFL to Bama...

I don't see NFL execs knocking down his door.

He would bomb on the West Coast.

Exposed.

The Pirate has a better chance to turn Wazzu into a power than Saban does you tard.

Name me one half-arse school or NFL team he has turned around?

Unless you think Bama is half-arse?

Are they?

A 4-time national title winning coach is a legend. STFU and GTFO, moron. You'd think the fans of a school whose greatest athletic accomplishments are an SEC West Title in the late 1990s and a Final Four berth in basketball would realize that.
