Chuck's omission must have been a misprint

I would say Shaq Daddy. He is seen all day long on every TV channel.

"The top 50 Shaq endorsements"
time to celebrate all he's accomplished in his career. Not his basketball career -- his other job, as a pitchman for, um, everything. I do not use this word lightly, but there is LITERALLY no chance you haven't purchased or at least used a Shaq-backed product. None.

"Charles Barkley is tired of watching Shaq in commercials"
“He got a 100 of them,” Barkley complained. “Yeah he’s got too many endorsements. And you know he’s got the lotion. They show our commercials when we’re on television, so when we’re not on during the game we sit in the green room and he’s on every five seconds rubbing lotion on his fake body.”
Of course this isn’t the first time that Barkley has made a joke about one of O’Neal’s endorsements. Last month he joked that O’Neal’s soda was “spreading diabetes all across the world, as we speak. Got like 50 grams of soda in one can of that cream soda.”

Barkley was a great individual player, but he obviously didn't have that it factor to carry a team. Didn't win a title in college and never won a title in the NBA. I love to hear him criticize players like Lebron who have you know actually won titles. Barkley's a goof who says stuff most others couldn't get away with. I think it would be fun to have a beer with him, but in no way is he the most prominent SEC figure.
Barkley was barely 6'3", yet held his own against NBA Centers. He had the it factor, he just didn't always have the supporting cast.

Never understood why he is so popular. Not taking away from him being a good basketball player, but he seems very uneducated, and one minded to casually degrade others by throwing his opinion out quickly.

Pick on whoever you want in the rant.
Feel free to live your life through and criticize 18 year old kids for your enjoyment
But don't ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever criticize Charles Wade Barkley
An absolute legend

Stop on the 6'3 garbage. Barkley is every bit of 6'5 and is one of the widest human beings you will ever see. 6'5 and about 290 lbs and had a 40 inch vertical is why he could dominate. He was a true freak of nature that took truly bad teams to the playoffs every year. He was only on two championship caliber teams and one took MJ and Bulls to their toughest series during their dynasties. I don't always agree with Chuck but he is one of the most genuine and nicest people you will ever meet. He is also gold in the ratings.

I think Barkley is probably a bit more popular than Shaq of late, although Shaq is traditionally a megastar where Barkley wasn't.
Others probably include Peyton, although he's dormant somewhat. Cam Newton has to be in the mix. Tebow of course.
Dak's time is probably coming, but all of the guys above have sports+persona (for better or worse) going.

I remember reference to "The Round Mound of Rebound" when he played.

Oh, so you were asking a question as to your own definition of "prominent"? So why didn't you just tell us how you felt?

It's not my definition. I'm sorry you confused marketability with prominence.

So tell us how you measure importance or fame.

I measure Barkley's importance and appeal in the simple fact that he isn't afraid to challenge topics that nearly every other celebrity wouldn't touch.
Ex. He will criticize blacks
He's flawed for sure but his candid personality is refreshing compared to the SJW we deal with all too often now.
