Wins the games he is supposed to, posts some good overall records, but has yet to win a big monumental game. Maybe I am forgetting a Big W on Jones record.

Truthfully, I THINK Mullen has a higher football IQ than Jones. Jones is just a turd with a megaphone. But, Tennessee apparently likes turds with megaphones

Butch is a recruiter and Mullen is a play caller. I would compare Butch to Muschamp , both recruit good talent but can't live up to their teams talent level.

Mullen is a his coaching who sucks at pr.
Butch is good at handling pr, but hasn't proven anything as a coach.

Mullen is a far superior "coach". Jones is a better recruiter at this point, even though that is lacking this year to a degree.

Butch has done nothing but piggyback off of Brian Kelly's success his entire career. If you crunch the numbers, Jones inherited loaded Kelly-laden teams at both Central Michigan and Cincinatti, only to see those units significantly regress under his watch. He's recruited well, yes, but the guy is absolutely incapable of winning big games. If you exclude Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and South Carolina - he's 4-14 in conference play with the remainder of victories during his UT tenure coming against the likes of:

South Alabama
Utah State
Arkansas State
Chattanooga
Iowa
Bowling Green
Western Carolina
Georgia
North Texas
Missouri
Northwestern
In turn, this thread is an unwarranted slap in the face to Dan Mullen who has turned the worst program in Southeastern Conference history into a perrenially above average institution. Butch Jones will go down in SEC lore with the Nutts, Muschamps, Shulas, and Zooks of yesteryear
