ESPN Running Back U Rankings

A little outdated. Wonder what it'll be after this season?

quote:

3. Alabama (100 points)

Arkansas’ Alex Collins and Jonathan Williams had better pick it up this season, or the Alabama train is going to roll to the top spot. The Crimson Tide once again has one of the nation’s most talented backfields with T.J. Yeldon and Derrick Henry set to join the likes of Mark Ingram, Trent Richardson and Eddie Lacy as top point producers from Alabama.

Nothing wrong with being mad if it's justified. Dumb on the other hand...

I see what you did and for your information, orange push-ups help EVERYONE.

You just shouldn't make them your entire diet-particularly if you are a NFL back.

Thanks for linking that article from 2014. By those rankings, Bama is now in the lead.

Lacy's the only one out of that group that's had a season that can be described as above average.

I'd take Ridley in his first 3 seasons or so ahead of any of those guys, and it's not close.

Ingram's season this year is above average.

His season last year was pretty good as well

As usual the L5U fans rank their college players based on results from things than what they did at L5U. This is about RBU, and that U is for University.

And Ridley is a fumbling fool that had some good numbers in the Patriots system.

That was 2 BCSChampionships, 2 SECChampionships (soon to be 3), 3 division Championships, and 1 playoff appearance (soon to be 2) ago.

2 of the All-Time greats to ever play FB in the NFL:
Fred Beasley - 1998
Tony Richardson - Undrafted Free Agent 1994

Cameron Artis-Payne - 2015
Tre Mason - 2014
Jay Prosch - 2014
Ben Tate - 2010
Kenny Irons - 2007
Ronnie Brown - 2005
Carnell "Cadillac" Williams - 2005
Heath Evans - 2001
Rudi Johnson - 2000
Kevin McLeod - 1998
Stephen Davis - 1996
James Bostic - 1994

That is 14 in the last 21 years. Alabama has put 10 RB's in the NFL during that same time frame. During this time frame Alabama never had 2 RB's go in the same draft.

Auburn is the only school in NCAA history to have 4 RB's taken in a single draft: 1987; Bo Jackson, Tommy Agee, Brent Fullwood, and Tim Jessie.

And I guess since he led the SEC in rushing even though not a RB, I will throw in the GOAT jimmie rustler on the rant; Cam Newton (who is having an MVP season and is QB of the only undefeated team left in the NFL, the Carolina Panthers).

Just to clear up any misunderstandings about how great Alabama running backs are in the NFL I looked up the top 10 current backs and not a single one went to Alabama.
