Defense is very very good. Offense is okay. Probably just good enough to win another national championship. But I don't think we are the best team in the country by a very wide margin.

I think we learned something in the second half vs Aubie yesterday. Our running game is much better than we thought it might be earlier in the year. The OLine is a very good run blocking outfit and the tackles are good pass blockers..
We need to run more and set the passing game up and I think we will be fine. Pursuit from the back side of plays, which in some cases last year slowed Derrick Henry because our QB did not run all that much, has just about ended being a factor because of Hurts.

I'm acknowledging we are the best team in the country. Just don't think it is by a significant margin. We should be favored to win the playoff. And probably will.

Agreed. And that we haven't been doing this all year is one reason I won't shed a tear when Lane leaves for a better opportunity (or the LSU job).

I was looking at the season ending standings in SEC on ESPN site today. Only two teams have a winning record vs ranked teams in SEC. Bama obviously is one, other is aTm which has winning record in USA poll and .500 record using AP.
That looked pretty bad for conference strength but most of this was due to all the cannibalism in the divisions this year. Was not due to OOC schedules.

Could it have anything to do with the jet sweeps in the first half? When the defense spreads out to stop the jets it opens up the inside run. When your OL isn't road graters you use motion and misdirection to set the defense up.
