This is coming from an Ole Miss fan, but based on what I've seen (and I watch a lot of football and read a bunch of articles), who have we seen that is better than Alabama? They might have lost to us, but I'll be damned if Alabama isn't leaps and bounds better now than they were when they played us.

Oh and best of luck to Alabama and the rest of the SEC. Hoping the Tide win out so the SEC can be represented.

Would have to go with Clemson at the moment. Bama #2.

I'm not buying that 1 loss Bama is better than every undefeated team. They are certainly at least top 4 and that's all that will matter. They can prove themselves from that point.

Winning over LSU doesn't make them the best, but they've been pretty stout all year.

I think most intelligent posters knew what was going to happen in that game...it went exactly as projected

Maybe. Maybe not. Just keep winning and get a shot to prove it.

Agreed man. Didn't ever think LSU had a shot against Alabama. LSU's offense is too one dimensional. Brandon Harris is talented, but he's just not good enough to pick up the slack when Fournette gets shut down.

Clemson is playing damn good football. I'm glad for Dabo. But our offense is still too inconsistent for me to say we are definitely the best. But Henry is a beast and a Coker is looking confident and is making better decisions than a month ago. So we're exactly where I wanted to be right now, in control of our own destiny.

This. It was questionable last week if we are top 4, now it is not. Still we have some other relative weaknesses that other top 4 teams have strengths at. Hopefully we will get a chance to see Bama take on these other greats from other conferences.

You, my friend, get it.

If we had played Ohio State last year in the middle of the season, we'd have beaten the hell out of them. Teams improve as the season goes along, unless they are hit by injuries like Ole Miss last year, and/or lose some emotional games and then regress.

In college football, every team loses players and has to start inexperienced players in some positions. Some do this more than others in a given year, and if those players are blue chips who are completely green, then the difference between their play from the first to the last game of the season can be tremendous.

Good post.

No. They were a matchup nightmare for LSU. Bama looked better than they were Sat. LSU looked worse than they were just because of the matchup.

Team that played Saturday night yep. The team that played Ole Miss and Tennessee not to much. Which team will show up against State and Auburn? Time will tell. Won't surprise me one bit that they lose at State. Coming off a huge emotional win against LSU a let down could be in the making.

With that being said Arkansas might kick our dicks in as well.

LSU didn't really give Harris chance. They took the keys away after he threw the int to start the 2nd half

Don't care if we're number 1 right now or not. Just want to keep winning to get the opportunity to prove it on the field. It will play out as it has to.

I*'ll go a step further - I don't WANT to be #1 at this point, it's a distraction. For some players, it's more of a distraction than others, and we've got some young guys in key spots who haven't won a national title before and need to stay hungry.
