PVAMU has come a long way from that. They went like 9-3 last year, just opened up a new football stadium, and are one of the two or three preseason favorites to win their conference

PVA&M is 1-0. How many SEC can't say that?

Didn't Prairie View lose like a hundred games in a row, recently?

It was only 80 games.
Give 'em some credit, won't ya?

Prairie View A&M was terrible in the 90's, just like LSU.

Showing your age, fellow old fart! The 80-game losing streak is tops in FCS, but ended in 1998. They won the SWAC in 2009.

But yeah, I get it and I agree. Other than playing freshmen in the 2nd half the only ones who get anything from this sort of game are the athletic departments of the patsy, in the form of a huge payout. And some think this is important. I'm ambivalent. I like supporting those AD's, but if I had big school season tickets this game would piss me off.

I doubt any SEC team could pick a weaker OOC game than this.

Actually Toledo is comparable .

Toledo last won the MAC in 2004, PVAMU won the SWAC in 2009.

Actually aggy and Prairie View are branches of the University of Texas, as per the Texas Constitution:
quote:

Sec. 13. AGRICULTURAL AND MECHANICAL COLLEGE. The Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, established by an Act of the Legislature passed April 17th, 1871, located in the county of Brazos, is hereby made, and constituted a Branch of the University of Texas, for instruction in Agriculture, the Mechanic Arts, and the Natural Sciences connected therewith. And the Legislature shall at its next session, make an appropriation, not to exceed forty thousand dollars, for the construction and completion of the buildings and improvements, and for providing the furniture necessary to put said College in immediate and successful operation.

Sec. 14. PRAIRIE VIEW A&M UNIVERSITY. Prairie View A&M University in Waller County is an institution of the first class under the direction of the same governing board as Texas A&M University referred to in Article VII, Section 13, of this constitution as the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas.

Most true college football fans will, as it's the last game of the evening.

It will validate one of two opinions:

Opinion 1 - That the longhorn defense is putrid and will be exposed badly by a terrible offensive coordinator (Jake Spavital)

Opinion 2 - That Jake Spavital is such a terrible offensive coordinator that he can't score on the terribad longhorn defense.

Don't knock Praire View A&M University. Founded in 1876 it is one of the oldest Universities in the state. It is a proud member of the SWAC. Due to budget limitations about 15 years ago, they did away with football scholarships. They still competed in the SWAC with walkons.

They have been back to full scholarship levels for several years. They are now in the Texas A&M System and a lot of money is being spent there. They opened up a brand new 15,000 seat stadium last week.

Alumni include Laurence Tuperno (sp?) aka Mr. T, a famous actor. He attended Prairie View on a football scholarship. Other famous alumni are Kenny Houston, formally of the Washington Redskins and Otis Taylor of the KC Chiefs. Also Emanuel Cleaver D MO,is the leader of the Black Caucus in the House of Representatives.

They are a good school and provide an excellent education.

They get a big paycheck for playing a Div 1 school and we all should be happy for them.
