Actually they weren't last year. But understand your bitterness given the fact Ohio State is winless against us all time.

Bowls are fine. They have no say in the national picture, but who cares? They are a good example of what amateur sports should be about. Not everything is about who finished #1.

I mean there are multiple years you could argue it didn't. You can't use after the fact reasoning so you could argue:
08 Texas over OU/UF
11 Okie State over Bama
06 Michigan over UF
07 about 7 teams over LSU since there were like 10 2 loss teams
Obviously some of those teams who would be "left out" wont he national title, but they would have absolutely had a chance in a playoff as well
