We lose so few, and when we do lose, it's just barely.

Any time Auburin beats Bama it has to be the best it ever was. Just ask any of their fans.

The problem with the Iron Bowl is that when Auburn wins ANY big game, historically speaking, its usually a nail-biter that they barely squeak out. It's been that way as long as anyone can remember.

Bama is the opposite. Typically when their good teams win the big games, its by a healthy margin.

Take the last 20 Iron Bowls. Series is tied 10-10.

Auburn's wins were by 1, 1, 5, 6, 7, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 10 points.... not one of them by more than 10 points. Average Margin of their wins is 6.4 points. The median margin of their wins is 7 points.

Meanwhile Bama's last 10 Iron Bowl wins were by 1, 5, 11, 11, 16, 18. 24, 28, 36, and 49 points. Only two of their wins have been by 10 points or fewer. The average margin of their wins is 19.9 points. The median margin of their wins is 17 points.

That's quite a difference. It's also the two program's in a nutshell.

So when you talk about a series like the Iron Bowl, all the greatest games (from a competitive standpoint) are Auburn victories. The only close Iron Bowl wins I can recall were 2009 (26-21, Bama) and 1996 (24-23, Bama).

The 1994 outcome was close (21-14, Bama) but if I remember correctly Bama got a huge lead and Auburn's late comeback fell short. It appears there were a few close Bama wins in the early '90s and '80s. Only one that sticks out in my mind was the 1985 game when Bama won with a long last second field goal.

Sure, it was two great defenses but if you didnt have any skin in the game it just wasnt what it was hyped to be. This was the consensus around the nation on the sunday after.

I for one see both sides of this argument.

I thought the 9-6 game was a great game... highly entertaining despite the low score. I would count it as one of the better games of the last 10 years simply because of the magnitude of the game and how close it was throughout.

With that said, I think both Bama and LSU fans try to make it out to be something it was not. It's not one of the most epic games ever played. Was it a good game? Sure. But leave it at that. Don't try to pretend it was a game that will be remembered by all college football fans for all time based on its excitement.

If anything history will remember it for being meaningless. Bama was given a due-over they did not deserve, so in hindsight there was no reason for the regular season game to have even been played.

Half of each game was dominantion by one team so no.

Baylor 61, TCU 58

None of these games actually featured any sort of defense so a big no. I don't see how these are exciting when half the TDs are because the defense doesn't know how to tackle or cover a receiver.

I was working at Disney during the 2012 SEC championship. My manager got on to my 4 times for checking my phone on stage. Then my phone died. So my manager put a huge cardboard sign up with the score for me to see when I got backstage that game damn near gave me a heart attack at work that night.

So you are saying Auburns games against what has been one of the best programs in history in its best run defines our program?

Get the frick out of here with that. Auburn has held its own against Alabama as good as or better than any other team in the NCAA... During its best run

2012 SECCG
2015 NCG
2011 LSU vs Alabama

All 3 are more deserving than several I see on the list.

You have no clue what a good game is. Yeah it was 9-6 final score

Then I guess we should count LSU's 10-0 goose egg against Alabama last year since it was a defensive battle as well.

No I'm saying anytime Auburn has success its done via the scrappiest fight ever in which Auburn barely ekes itself over the finish line, often either by a miracle or some down to the wire finish. That's not a criticism, its just the way Auburn has always been.

Bama destroys teams.

Auburn's National Title in 2010 was won on a last second FG. Bama's last 5 National Title wins were won in games by an average of 16.2 points each.... the only one that was a nailbiter was their win over Clemson.

Again, I can provide other examples. Don't act like this isn't true.

Totally agree. Never said otherwise. Not sure why you have a problem hearing truth. Typically when Auburn wins, its well earned after a hard fight, albeit with maybe a miracle or two thrown in. Either way, Auburn has accomplished quite a bit in the Saban era.

Bama seems to have everything always fall into their lap. Their teams have been incredible no doubt. But everything that could possibly go right to help them out seems to almost always fall into place for them. It's been this way since Bryant. Again, this is not a criticism, its just the way it is. They seem to win with ease.
