I bet Harbaugh's dream job is Michigan, but like most great coaches he wants to prove he can win on the most competitive stage, the NFL.
I think Harbaugh has his dream job. Last I heard he was on the outs with Michigan and hasnt been back there in a long time.

wrong Harbaugh. John will get that job if he wants it. Jim is an NFL lifer now, though likely won't be with San Fran next year.

No. I think he wants back to college desperately

I don't think the 49ers will trade him. His contract runs through the 2015 season.

So Sumlin, who (at $5 mil/yr) is well on his way to becoming one of the most successful coaches in A&M history, has shepherded one of the biggest turnarounds in A&M football history, and has one of the greatest football complex/stadium/facilities in the country -- as well as his pick of the deepest talent pool in his backyard -- would want to give all of that up to go take a chance in the NFL?
I don't think you know what you think you know.

Harbaugh is apparently a huge douche and will never stay anywhere longer than 5 years because he pushes all the wrong buttons with people. That being said, he's won in the NFL and will continue to do so. He will always have offers from other teams if he's available.
90% of nfl teams would fire their head coach in an instant to get harbaugh. Unless the guy doesn't like coaching NFL and just prefers college better, it makes no sense for him to go to michigan.

He wouldn't be the first college coach to jump to the NFL despite having a great college job (see Saban, Spurrier, and Jimmie Johnson).
Let's say on the off chance he did jump to the NFL, it would be interesting to see what coaches end up at A&M, Michigan, and UF (assuming UF cans Boom).

I fully expect Sumlin to give the NFL a shot in the next 3-4 years, especially if he brings home a title. I don't think it happens this year though

Everything you just said was applicable to Spurrier when he left Florida. And there was even less smoke about him leaving than Sumlin.
Don't be shocked if he leaves.

Or Jimmy Johnson, Spurrier, Dennis Erickson, Chip Kelly, Harbaugh etc.

Michigan could pursue someone outside of the program. Maybe Freeze? The dude can flat-out recruit. Maybe David Shaw? Jim Mora Jr? Larry Fedora? Al Golden? Or maybe Sumlin, which is wishful thinking for both myself and the rest of the SEC.

I kinda still will be because that means that some NFL team paid us $5 million just for the right to pay him over $5 million a year. We put a huge buyout in his contract for a reason.
But we Aggies won't be crushed like most of the Rant dreams. We will have an extra $10 million in bonus money to go hire whatever college coach we want. We would outbid Florida or Michigan in a heartbeat.
There was a lot of talk last offseason about Texas making Saban the first coach to earn $10 million a year. If we lose Sumlin this offseason we will be the first team to break that barrier.

Since the NFL has turned into a social/political grievance league for extremely large individuals:
1) spousal abuse-Rice
2) child abuse-Peterson
3) racism-Redskins
The NFL pursuit of any coach of color with a history of success to fill the quota required by the Liberal self haters is inevitable. Although the scenario proposed is speculative, the loss of Sumlin to the NFL is a given.

Why would Harb leave one of the best teams in the NFL to go back to college coaching? Why is this constantly coming up.
I can understand if he were struggling in the NFL, but he isn't.
Why aren't there rumors of Bill Belichick from the Patroits heading back to his alma mater?

I dunno, man. How much pressure can Goodell put on individual franchise owners to take the trivial "social justice" standpoint in their business decisions? It's not as if there are serious ramifications for not hiring people of color, just as there wouldn't be for not hiring a white person. Ratings will still be through the roof, there will just be a few people pissed off for like a week or two. Look at how quickly the Donald Sterling thing blew over, and more recently the Hawks' GM scandal.

Larry Fedora?
On what universe is Larry Fedora a step up from anyone? He's been downright bad at UNC. East Carolina dropped 70 on his team last week, and they could have opened that up much worse.
If there's a coach in North Carolina that should be turning heads, it's Ruffin McNeill.
