You can buy a toaster cheaper than that today.

Cool fact. Ole miss gave up 21 points in 1959. One touchdown given up by the defense. One given up to billy cannon in the punt return they still show at tiger stadium. One was a pick six I think. Anyone know?

Is that a legit title or one of the two they made up to overcompensate for their small penises?

FSU didn't exist in 1939.
What about in 1984?

And then y'all beat LSU 21-0 in the rematch in NOLA.

Nope...NC was named prior to bowl games back then. aTm was named #1 at the end of the regular season...whatever happened in the bowl game had no impact on the NC.

If I recall, we lost to Kentucky and Arkansas and still got to play for the national championship.

This is a touchy subject for the Aggies, because all active fans in 1939 are mainly dead; and the jewels that post here all will die and will never see their team win one in their lifetime. Likely neither will their kids.
This might seem amazing to you Alabama fans, but out of the 120+ college football teams MOST of them are filled with fanbases that will never see their team win a national title. College football is a rigid caste system enforced via recruiting and money, which means that 70%+ of programs start the season with no hope of winning it all that year. Yet people still fill the stands and root for their team, either out of pride or enjoyment for the game.
If Drew would have never won that Super Bowl I wouldn't love the Saints any less. Well unless by now they moved to LA or San Antonio or something. To me they represent the community, and the city that I was raised in.
On the flip side if A&M actually does win a national title in my lifetime I will enjoy it more than any Alabama fan alive enjoyed their recent titles. Rather that it being some relief that my team is "back" to the level it should be at, I will enjoy every moment and savor the time like during the Saint's Superbowl.
Just being a fan of the best team in a sport doesn't give you the best fan experience. In fact I think its the opposite. I would have much rather been a Red Socks fan throughout my life and really enjoyed that 2004 title than be a Yankees fan who just threw 2009 on the pile.

Major bowl hardware was on the line. So yes.
Edit: And it's not like that stops you from claiming 67 despite losing in the Cotton and the polls waiting until after the bowls.

Well y'all probably would've won it in 2012 if not for us.

You have a point, most teams are never in the race even if they go unbeaten, but this is the SEC. Alabama has won more but just in the last 15 years Auburn, LSU and Florida have won/played for MULTIPLE National Championships in Football. Kentucky, LSU, Florida, South Carolina, have been major players in other men's major sports also.
So as foreign as the concept of winning championships is to Aggies in anything relevant, in the SEC teams actually do win them.
What I do think is ridiculous is the “perennial Top 10” attitude fans have… as NO ONE fits that bill. Even in their strong sports everyone has their ups and downs. Bama Football, UK Basketball, LSU Baseball… etc… all have and will sprinkle some bad seasons every now and then.

We have a few recent national titles in non-football too. We have won ten NCAA national titles since 2009.
I thought we were talking football, the sport where 5 SEC teams (aka less than half) have won a national title in my lifetime. I just don't know why you single us out from the other nine.
We aren't winners, but we aren't some special breed of loser either. Even by SEC standards we are average. Yet for some reason there is something about us that inspires you to talk down to us like our program is UAB or something.

Guess y'all should've beaten Driskel and Muschamp at home with your best player eva.

It is what it is. We got a lot out of that season- a Heisman, a top five finish since 1956, and we crushed the team that almost killed our program in the 90's in a bowl game. I enjoyed it for what it was.
I do sometimes wonder that MAYBE without that storm if UF was the second game that season instead of the first that JFF would have had more freedom in the game. But you never know.

I'm biased, and JFF obviously got better as the season went on, but we had the defensive speed on the outside like LSU.

Exactly. Maybe there is no way we beat UF that year.
I don't think any Aggie looks at that year and goes "what if." We leave it up to "rivals" to wonder if we would have won a national title in the Big 12, or whatever. Not only did we get a better than expected season in 2012, but we got a new stadium and a ton of new fans. It was a great coming out party.
The only way we have regrets about 2012 are if a decade out when all these facilities Johnny helped pay for are getting old before we have any hardware in the case that they helped us earn. But we have a long way to go to get there.

aTm was #1 before the bowl...even if UT had won the bowl game and they decided champions after the bowl...aTm still would have been NC...because they were ranked ahead of UT and won their bowl.
Officially, UT was #2 that year...a bit better than Florida finishing #12 in the conference.
Wrong...again. UT claims the NC because Litkenhous ranked them #1 (personally, I don't recognize that one, either). Again...even if UT would have won their bowl, they wouldn't have been #1. They were #2 going into the bowl and the #1 team won their bowl game.
So, losing the bowl game, again, had no impact on UT winning a real (AP) national championship that year.

Uh oh, so your claims of 38/40/50/67 aren't real?
