Another reason why the sport is catching on with younger fans. All action.

And it's a moving clock. You can set the time to watch a match and know that it will be over within that time frame

Maybe high scoring isn’t the best thing for sports. I’ve always enjoyed the defensive aspect of college football especially in the SEC.

I'm certainly not a huge soccer guy, but when I watch soccer games with attacking teams the last thing I think of is how boring it is.

The last 10-15 minutes of an intense, close, low scoring soccer game rival hockey games for raw intensity and nervousness. Obviously, like all sports, some teams play a bland, ball control, boring style.......but teams that don't are not boring at all. Even to somebody who isn't a soccer savant.

I've never been bored watching the Atlanta United.

Like with most things, there is a difference between bad football/baseball/soccer that is low scoring and elite football/baseball/soccer that is low scoring.

Not all low scoring games are great defense/pitching and not all high scoring games are great offense/hitting.

Agreed...
Don’t get me wrong, I’m no soccer fan.
My point is the younger generation view sports differently than older guys like me.
I even view sports differently now.
There was a time when I watched football wall to wall every weekend.
Millenials don’t do that and neither do I anymore.

I'm an old guy. I remember being angry at ESPN for pushing the X Games down our throats, yelling at the TV "nobody wants to watch this crap!"

Yeah, apparently I was wrong

In looking at it, you notice how well Kentucky did and how poorly LSU did relative to the number of sports they have contributing to their points total.

And that was with UK WBB getting ZERO points this year. UK may be ahead of the football curve as they have done well without football from the beginning. UK has rifle (but coed, so the points are split) but they have been picking up their game in the winter and spring sports to have content for the SECN and ESPN. They may be ahead with less money and size but more content fill over the whole year.

Maybe this is the future for the rest of the conference.

If I’m not mistaken soccer games are 2 hrs.

Therein lies the rub

Soccer has no commercial interruptions so the game is played quicker and you are done before being bored by the dead time. When MCBB moves to quarters it is not for the game but so they can cram more commercials down your gullet.

Soccer isn't the future that will replace football in the US. There isn't enough violent action for football fans to convert.

The replacement will be eSports. Photorealistic avatars controlled by professional players committing acts of violence to each other that even the Roman gladiators couldn't imagine will be the next big thing for live sports. People will get to scratch the itch that football scratches but no one will actually get hurt.
