Congrats, I would have thought the fact we could not fill a travel roster for sec play including 8 scheduled for TJ surgeries would tip everyone off.

No one expected them to be in contention.

Of all the programs to pick at, Miss St. baseball is not one of them. Polk and Skip had a huge part in making college baseball what it is today. Duty Noble is a historic ball park with tons of history. Miss St baseball fans are some of the best in the nation and if you're being honest are pretty close to LSU baseball fans. Quit acting like a douche.

Close your eyes. What do you see? Nothing...that is how many CWS titles MSU has.

How does a team with 5 NCs historically have a losing record to a team with 0 NCs? Sad!

have a downvotes you dumbass. When was the last time LSU did anything in baseball worth bragging about? 1-4 the last 7 years! At least State went to the finals a couple years ago.
Just stop...

I agree with all of this.

Where I lost a lot of respect for Miss St baseball is when they hired Cohen. Even Polk opposed his hiring. The guy is a jerk and doesn't respect the game or the opponent.

Giving his pitcher the green light to throw the first pitch behind Mason Katz's head on a Sunday after Katz hit home runs in the Friday and Saturday night games proved to me Cohen should not be allowed to influence young athletes.

I agree. Cohen was a huge POS.

In the 60s, 70s and even 80s, MSU with Polk was the equivalent to LSU in 90s and 2000s (minus NCs :)

Miss. State set the bar really high, then LSU jumped over and reset it. Even with a disclaimer, though, I would not use "equivalent" to compare Miss. State and LSU baseball.

Outside of USC in the 70's (Which is the greatest program in college baseball history), there is no equivalent.

State still leads the all time series with LSU
211-177

So I guess if LSU sweeps the next twelve years in a row they will take the all time series lead.

All weekend while watching LSU sweep State the commentators have talked about Miss St's history.

I posted about this about 4 weeks ago. I commented that Mississippi State baseball is the most over-hyped sport in the entire SEC. Their fans and even the media act as if that program is a powerhouse, but the facts all say otherwise.

Since the SEC expanded in 1992, State has a conference record of 375-380. They are below .500 for crying out loud. Why do people insist that they are some great baseball program when they are middle-of-the-pack for the SEC?
