1.Georgia
2.Bama
3.A&M
4.Kentucky
5.Auburn
Thoughts?
PS - I could be being a homer here, but I think really A&M or Bama could be 2 so far, depending on the metrics used. Cheers!

I know Auburn and Arky's O-Lines aren't great, but I was impressed with their (TAMU's DL) performances. It's crazy that Petrino's offense has given up more TDs in the last 3 weeks than Durkin's defense has.

Tennessee’s defense has given up a few 60-70 yard runs… but other than that we are one of best defenses against the run overall and one of the best in the country in sacks and tackles for loss. Our front seven has to be top 5 in SEC

Here's the top 5 SEC rushing defenses according to:
https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/24
Missouri - 8 overall
Kentucky - 9 overall
A&M - 20 Overall
Arkansas - 35 Overall
Alabama - 36 Overall
That's just rushing defense though.

I would have A&M and Alabama above Georgia so far. Georgia may have some dudes (I really don’t know) but they got run over some this past weekend. Maybe they are young, maybe they just had a bad game.. but I was shocked that they were getting manhandled at times.

Manhandled by Auburns OL or DL?

I was casually watching on my phone as our game was on at the same time, but your DL and LB we’re getting run over and pushed back on some of the plays that I saw. (mostly 1st half)
Just wasn’t used to seeing that from your defense. Maybe it was just bad timing.

We definitely were not manhandled.
Our DL is not what it was in 2021 or 2022, though.
They aren't chasing down QBs on the edge.
Nor are they holding double teams as well.
Freeze ran an offensive style that he had not done all season. It was also his first game calling plays.
Our linebackers where a step slow in recognition (combined with the DL not being superhuman), and they (LBs) could be reached at times.
Teams are playing a ton of misdirection. As we get more reps, I expect more tackles for loss on those (slower developing plays). But right now, we are slower but disciplined reading keys

perhaps manhandled was the wrong word..
this is a better portrayal of what I saw..
your DL and LB’s weren’t superhuman (like I am used to seeing) so I was a little bit shocked
That being said, my original point remains.
A&M and Alabama have looked better so far imo.
