We're not as high profile as some of our fans want to believe. At least I admit it. In fact most of us admit that we're not a Premier coaching destination, which I would limit to Texas, OU Florida, Alabama, Georgia, USCw, tOSU, Michigan, ND, and possibly the artist formerly known as Nebraska. The problem with Arkansas is most of y'all are blind to not being in that group.

From my experiences, most Hog and Ag fans believe their respective schools are premier coaching spots. I think you're giving your fanbase too much credit on this one.

Also, we're not blind, we're just crazy. Not LSU crazy, but still pretty nuts. We've Freedom of Information Acted two coaches and have flown banners before games.

That would be a great hire.

Word on the street is that Gundy and T Boone aren't too fond of each other.

This. And, apparently, they weren't very accommodating during his contract negotiations last off season and he's not very happy about how everything played out.

We could do better. We could do much worse. I'd be fine with him. I'd prefer Gary Patterson or someone with more of a history having good defensive squads, but that might not be in the cards.

I see no reason at all for him to go to Arkansas.

1. Lateral move
2. Harder to win
3. Worse recruiting territory
4. He'd be leaving the school where he graduated

Why would he leave?

I brought this up earlier, and most Hog fans just said he's not a defensive minded coach so they dont want him. I guess time changes things.

If you were Mike Gundy, how pissed would you be that Travis Frickin Ford has a ten year deal and got exactly what he asked for, yet you, the most successful football coach in the history of your school could not get a ten year deal like you wanted and in fact, had to scratch and claw just to get your current eight year deal?

You know Gundy is pissed about that and it should tell you that maybe the feelings between Gundy, T. Boone, and rest of them over there aren't all hugs and kisses by the fact that they wouldn't give him a ten year deal like he wanted.

If T. Boone wants him to stay, you don't have a chance until T. Boone dies.

Arkansas paid Petrino ~3.53 a year, OSU pays Gundy 3.75 and will more than likely match any offer. I just don't see why he would leave that conference for no money gain to come to the SEC where he'd have to face Alabama, LSU and State every year.

T Boone money isn't shite compared to what Arkansas has if they want to use it.

T Boone doesn't have near the money he used to. Arkansas has the Walmart, Tyson, Stephens, etc money. If they decided they wanted to, they could offer as much as any school in the country outside of maybe 2 or 3. Not that I think Gundy is WORTH that much...

If Gundy is making 3.75 million, you're only talking another 1.4 million to match what Mack Brown makes. Its just not that big of a leap to be the highest paid coach from where he is.

And I still stand by the fact that with him making as much as he is and doing as well as he is, why on earth would he leave that to come to the SEC and face Alabama, LSU and State year in and year out?

If T. Boone wanted Gundy to stay as badly as some of you think he does, Gundy would already have a ten year contract (like he asked for) at around $4 million per year.

Gundy is making 3.75 on an 8 year deal now. How much more would you pay him? Do you think he is a $5 million coach worthy of a long term deal? Even then, he still could get matched by OSU easily and he would have to leave his alma mater and burn those bridges. Gundy really loves OSU even if he doesn't get along with the AD very well or T Boone, it is still his dream job.

FWIW I think he could do well at Arkie but would not be a good hire at a lot of places. He's kind of a strange dude and prone to outbursts. That won't work at a place like Texas or Bama where the spotlight is bright and constant, coaches that lose control get eaten alive at those places. You need to be a politician and Gundy is definitely not that.

No he is not.

T. Boone will not fight to keep Gundy, he will not offer up the cash to match any offer for Gundy.

By the way, this is one of T. Boone's latest contributions to OSU. T. Boone may not be as flush with ready cash as some of you think.

Uh Oh

They apparently had to put their indoor practice facility construction, which was about halfway done, on hold for lack of funds after yet one more T. Boone scheme backfired.

He has a much easier road to the BCS where he is currently at. Plus it is "home" for him. I don't even think he would leave for one of the "Big time" gigs let alone for Arkansas.

Shouldn't A&M win the West or go to a BCS game in the SEC before they try to talk down to other SEC schools that have?

A&M is having a nice year but it's a school that hasn't really done shite since the 90's.
