I think you have to look at the history of the teams involved in the various historic grinds State has undertaken.

quote:

Last week, LSU: LSU leads the series 71-34-3 on the field, with LSU having won something like fourteen in a row.

LSU has played State a good bit more frequently than Alabama has. Familiarity breeds contempt?

How do State fans view LSU?

quote:

2012, Alabama: The #WeBelieve grind. Alabama leads the series 76-18-3, but State has beaten Alabama more recently (and consistently) over the last 15-20 years than they have LSU. I can only speak to the Alabama perspective, but personally I've always really liked State.

Alabama and State are geographically closer than any other two SEC schools, and I find that neat.
How do State fans view Alabama?

quote:

This coming Saturday, Texas A&M: Texas A&M leads the series 4-3-0. State and A&M are close to a dead heat in the overall series, but are not very familiar with one another. Will it take time (or controversial games) for heat to build between the two teams?
How do State fans view A&M?

The point is that not all grinds are created equally, and one has to consider the place the opponent holds in tGrind's heart.

tGrind is a magic bullet that only works once in like 25 tries or something crazy like that.

It's actually 2/3. Will be 3/4 after Saturday.

There there, Choctaw. I'd wager that LSU is probably the second most important grind after Ole Miss, though I could be wrong.

Alabama seems to rank pretty low on the grind priority list unless State fans feel there's a very real possibility that State will pull out the win. Our series seems to be pretty friendly, by and large.

It's hard to Grind when we accept the friction.

What? A lot of LSU fans on a site that is an offshoot of an LSU fan site? Will the surprises ever cease?
