The article STATES that he came out in 2009

This is important -- this is the year that Meyer took a leave of absence and Adazzio took over the interim-coaching duties. It's very possible that Strong was waiting and interviewed.

Although it does seem to indicate that he's talking about Auburn.

Hard to believe him.

You can believe him. On this matter, I've got good information.

I actually had this initial response as well. ''Who in the hell is stupid enough to say something like that?'' I'm always a skeptic (if, true) and I just hope it's untrue.

Um...where did you hear those rumors? I've heard his interracial marriage barred him from head coaching jobs but not at Florida.

I don't think he ever interviewed for the HC job at UF.

UF was not part of the interracial marriage issue. It wasn't a East time. East more refined than West

Yeah, sorry that's what I meant to say. I've never heard of any discrimination when it came to Charlie at UF.

Frankly, I think he needed the stops he has made. At South Carolina he was a good, not great, DC. There was even this bit of doggerel: "Third and long, Charlie Strong." It stemmed from two standout losses, one to Tennessee in 2000 and another to Clemson the same year.

What he was great at was recruiting. That is something he did as well as anyone.

Later, the years at Florida, then the best overall sports program in the nation, he continued to learn. Then he was ready for Louisville.

I have met Charlie and found him to be a smart, articulate man and a good guy. The question, to me, is not whether his recruiting, coaching and "people" skills are sufficient. Rather, it is whether he is up the pressure that is felt nowhere like Texas, Bama, Florida, Southern Cal and, maybe, Ohio State. (Notre Dame has been humbled, and the Georgia Dawgs, a team I love dearly always bows to Saint Mark now.)

He has had the training and I wish him the best. He is no longer: "Third and long, Charlie Strong."

Everyone should have a black coach. All coaches should be black. White women should all marry black men. Black men are superior to white men in every way.

This. Makes for a great NPR story on race... especially in the SEC of all places, but it doesn't seem like real life to me. I'm sure a die hard NPR listener would tell me I'm naive.

AD: "Well, Charlie, we'd really like to have you. We think you can bring us back to SEC and national titles, but due to the fact that you have a white wife we just can't bring you on board."

Uh, I'm saying he's a liar, or he got that insight from some Auburn version of Red McCombs. Nobody involved in the process would ever say something so ridiculous.
