Interesting question, a little more complicated imo. If CUM handles Saban in a few final 4 games you'd have to give him his due. But he will be marred by the complete fail BigTeleven football is. Bottom line, CUM goes through 3 QBs with an SEC schedule he's not in the final 4. Whereas Saban dominated the toughest league in its most dominant era.

Urban is dead to most SEC people. However, in terms of coaching ability and his legacy, he will be considered one of the greats. Hopefully, the new format for the National Champion makes him beat an SEC team to win or get to the title.

Everything runs thru the SEC.

Yeah, but to be fair, last season:

Wisconsin > Auburn
tOSU > Alabama
IU > Mizzou

To your credit, LSU > Wisconsin early in the season

He just beat #1 and clowned #2 with a third string qb. Doesn't get much tougher than that.

Ohio State he was given the keys to a mansion.

I mean they were actively on probation and he went undefeated which bears noting that without the sins of those before him he would have won the title that year giving him one more and Saban one less.

Which is why it's a dumb argument to go by titles since you can't play your way into it.

Korin, what does that have to do with my post? He wouldn't have the luxury of beating and clowning #'s 1 & 2 if he had to break in 2 QBs grinding out an SEC schedule. He would've hammered AU in the outback.

And yet he beat a top 5 Michigan State team on the road by double digits with a backup qb.

Absolutely. Why wouldn't he? He's one of the best ever. I told someone on the eve of the Sugar Bowl that if Tressell is still at OSU we blow them out. Urban scares me though. The only coach that you can put in the Saban conversation right now in college ball is Urban.

Adam, great point. If not for tOSU's cheating they would've played ND for the title as they were both unbeaten. tOSU having "earned" their trip by playing 12 games vs unranked teams. If the BigTeleven doesn't get their shat right it will certainly affect CUM's legacy.

Korin, MSU played 3 decent teams. Got blown out in 2 and gave up dam near 50 per game. Color me not impressed.

And MSU sandwiched between that brutal stretch that included Rutgers, Illinois and Minnesota.....

The SEC was overrated last year. Missouri made the ccg despite losing to a 4-8 B1G team.

You were downplaying tB1G, but tB1G owned tSEC this past year. That was all

There's an irrational hatred on these boards for Meyer.

Urban would need two championships over saban to erase the fact that saban and the SEC made his arse quit.

He erased that "fact" back in early January in NOLA. With a third string qb.
