It would be the first three-peat since Bernie Bierman, Pug Lund, and Minnesota were going 8-0 in the Great Depression. What a time to be an SEC football fan! Look at all we’ve seen in the past 4 years:

The greatest team in the history of college football:

Potentially 3 Heisman Trophy winners*:

* - 2020

A budding dynasty ending a 41 year drought including one of the most memorable finishes in CFP history and an undefeated season ending with one of the most dominant performances in championship game history:

A back-to-back national championship team riding a 29-game win streak:

The tail end of the career of the greatest coach in college football history:

And the rise of the coach that made that coach the greatest:

Let’s just take a moment to appreciate greatness. Here’s to the SEC, best conference in college football!

INHO a dynasty has to be over at least an 8-10 year time span.

Well have no fear, I seriously doubt any team is going to upend Georgia in the next 8 to 10 years, especially with Saban's career seemingly waning.

It would be impressive, but this is "recency bias."

What Saban has done at Alabama, Smart is chasing. In today's NCAA its hard to do.

You're disrespecting the past achievements of Bear Bryant, Woody Hayes, Bo Schembechler, John McKay. Sustained success. Georgia basically just broke through as elite 2 years ago.

No. It is very impressive, but the most impressive dynasty to this point is what Alabama is doing right now...and hopefully near and end due to our emergence. But what thye have done for as long as they have done it is easily the most impressive.

Threepeat would be extremely impressive, though. I'll feel better about our chances if we win Saturday, though.

Not true. I mean how many championships did those other coaches get? We have been contending for championships for longer than two years. You have to go back to 2017, at least.

Schembechler- 0 Championships
Hayes-3 Championships
McKay- 4 Championships

You have a point with Bryant and Saban, though. But saying Georgia only broke through as elite 2 years ago insinuates that Schembechler never broke through.

We played for a National Championship and barely lost in 2017, then won two in a row in 2021 and 2022 with a chance to win three in a row this year, so we have been elite for at LEAST 6 years.

Got to love how Bama has a talk off for everything. Circa 2019.

I’m not trying to diminish their accomplishments, but the last three years haven’t really seen some juggernaut teams. The SEC has been down, they got maybe the worst team to ever make a National Championship game last year, and even Georgia itself has looked mid in many of their wins. It’s kind of a bizarre situation because I don’t think people view them as this dominant program, despite the winning streak they’re on. Again, I’m not trying to be negative on them because they are one of the other SEC schools I respect and who’s success I am happy to see, but I’m just trying to be real here.

You need to look up the definition of dynasty, then get back to us.

It's all subjective, but personally I think that 3 championships in any combination of 7 or 8 years is a dynasty. Two championships should never be considered a dynasty. That's just "two championships."

The stats/record doesn't show "dynasty," it shows good-to-very good. 2002,2007, & 2012 were excellent, and outside of that it's just "meh."

Most people consider Nebraska from 1993-1997, Alabama from 1961-1966 and ND from 1946-1949 as dynasties. None of those hit 8 seasons.

How many years did Bobby Bowden finish in the top 5? Like 20? Pretty incredible
