I have a lot of respect for a true Vandy fan. Can't be all that easy I"m sure.

And no matter what you Gotta root for your alma mater

Thank you. I have no problem with people rooting for who ever if they didn't go to college or if they went to a D3 school or whatever (assuming they have a reason outside of said team being good). Hell, we could use you at Vanderbilt Stadium on Saturdays in the fall. But if you attend an SEC school and root for some other team, you can go frick yourself as far as I'm concerned. My grandpa PLAYED for OU, and later taught there, and I grew up about 20 minutes from Cal and went to their games all the time as a kid. But Vandy is my Alma Mater (Latin for "nourishing mother", btw) and it will be a cold day in hell before some other squad comes first.

Don't know too many Vandy fans. I do know a lot of Vandy grads, though. They don't give a shite. You'd think a Vandy grad would also be a fan, but you'd be wrong.

Tell you what, sport. Close your eyes and imagine that you started your undergraduate career in 1977 and graduated in 1982. Now imagine that since that first day you entered your future alma mater 35 years ago, your football team has had two winning seasons. How big a fan would YOU be?

All of my friends/family who went to Vandy are Vandy fans AND fans of teams like Alabama. I've never met someone who was just for Vanderbilt.

My pops did residency at vandy, thus i grew up a vandy fan and vandy fan ONLY. That changed when i attended auburn

And everybody knows they'll cry like babies when they lose...yet again...and their glasses fog up when they cry and they can't find their way back to their safe haven...the library/class.

It's tough but I have been a Vandy fan for 42 years. Grew up in Alabama during Bear's heyday. The only time I root against Alabama is when they play Vandy. It's not so much the losing that is painful it's the way they lose. It's always like the end of the 3rd quarter, or beginning of the 4th and Vandy is winning and you just sense something horrible is going to happen. It always does. Even this past season - believe it or not Vandy could have been 9 and 2. The only game that they had no chance was Bama. But I think Franklin is the best coach we have had sense 1970 - my Freshman year. He truly gets that he has to change the mindset of the players, students and alums. I think he will succeed if he sticks around. Already has the Board committed to rehab of the stadium and a new indoor practice field. The basketball team sells out a gym that holds 17.5K. If the football team is consistently competitive they will come.
