I don't know. K-State is a lot more relevant in football.

Oh I get the Arkansas joke. However, I think some Arkies don't.

Yes, Mizzou is the most prominent school in Missouri. But I'm not walking around calling it a flagship school because that just sound retarded these days.

Is Kansas more important in basketball...certainly. Never claimed they weren't good. Football...are you fricking serious? Anything else? Are you fricking serious?

All I'm saying is that the Kansas Jayhawks are a national brand. Mizzou isn't. That's all.

I agree. Kansas has a secret spot waiting for them in the Big 10. Everyone seems to believe that.

K-State might be good every now-and-then in football and rarely in basketball, but that doesn't matter. They'll end up in a lesser conference.

And they will be taking that more relevant football team to the MWC. They have no academics to speak of, while kansas is an AAU member. Doesnt mean alot to us but conferences/Univ. Presidents love that.

Sure...Kansas is barely a national brand in basketball. You'd have to be a troll to convince anyone that Kansas is a national brand in anything else. That would be an outrageous joke.

Is some people's minds, being a "national brand" in anything other than football is a joke. You're either a national brand in football or you're nothing at all (not my opinion, but...).

I agree...Mizzou isn't a national brand in anything yet. Buse, what would you consider Arkansas to be?

Now RoadGator is someone who knows how to use the term "flagship" appropriately! He's up with the times...

Barely? You must be joking.

And I'm not talking about "in" certain sports per se. They're nationally relevant. Period. People all across the nation know the basics about KU. Their colors, their mascot. When you mention KU, it paints an image in your head. In short, they're a brand.

I'm not sure how to answer your Arkansas question.

There is no need to state the obvious.

Oklahoma and Virginia Tech would be my two choices if I had a vote.

Well, Buse, we have to 100 percent disagree on Kansas as a national brand. Sorry man. They've won 3 national championships in basketball (they claim 5 but 2 of those are disputed by experts as to whether or not they qualify as national championships). Their football sucks arse and so does everything else.

We just have to disagree here. However, you'll succeed in getting other Mizzou posters to respond which is probably your goal.

As for Arkansas, just answer the question. It's not hard. Are they a national brand because they've won a basketball championship? Or, are they a national brand, period? Pretty straightforward question...

No they're not.

And you're still not really getting it. It doesn't even necessarily have to do with championships, although it helps.

People either know you or they don't. I never knew what Missouri's tiger logo looked like til they joined the SEC, and I've been watching college football for....well a long time.

Btw that is not a knock on Mizz. Probably more a show of my ignorance than anything. Just stating it though.

It has nothing to do with having a well rounded athletic department or winning championships. How many times is KU mentioned or shown on national television? Whether it be games, highlights, bracket talk, or anything else. Add to that, they have a memorable mascot and colors that stand out. They're also not competing with any other in-state teams or attractions besides K-State for recognition. You think of the state of Kansas, and it's pretty hard not to think of KU. It's all psychology.
