Well, I hope USCe has a lot of money to throw his way because Fuente is a hot name.......schools like Maryland, USCw, and now USCe all have him as a top choice........and that's not including any additional jobs that may open up by season's end...........

Despite the big win by Charlie Strong, Texas still may give him the boot......if so, they'll be in the mix as well.......

Options disappear very quickly during a coaching search. Very delicate situation making offers and trying not to let it get out and making someone feel like they were second fiddle.

No, there are Tier I HC's, Urban is one of them, Saban would be another, Chip Kelly is there too.

I misunderstood then. I thought you meant he was a Tier 2 choice on your board.

I have him as a tier 2, he's not in the same league as the tier I guys, IMO.

This is true. I see Chip Kelly as a very natural fit for the Trojans though. If Texas offered he'd be a fool to turn them down, but other than that SCAR is just as attractive as any other job.

Fuente may be in a situation where he can pick from 4 or 5 really good jobs by the end of the year.

SCAR is fortunate both in that Strong saved his job with the win over the Sooners, and that there are a number of bright, upcoming football coaches at non-power five conference schools ripe for the picking.

Matt Rhule at Temple would be an awesome pick and is already being scrutinized by schools like Maryland as their next head coach.

I'd think SCAR could out-bid the Terps for him if it came down to that. Maryland's AD makes Tennessee's look rich by comparison.

People said spurrier wouldn't come here either. Who knows who the next coach will be. All I know is he needs to be able to recruit

If we're just talking small school guys, I have Tom Herman and Doc Holliday ahead of Fuente.

Herman and Fuente are neck and neck as far as current coaches are concerned. Holliday is too old to be in that same group, IMO.

Programs tend to over-compensate when hiring, but I think that USC is fine with older coaches who don't like to recruit after Holtz and Spurrier for ~18 years. We'll almost err on the side of being too young.

Holliday is a little older than I would like. I'd prefer Fuente over Hermann but that's just me.
