Ok, so they're different networks. So why is ESPN putting its best game on at 11 o'clock then? Could it have anything to do with the history and prestige associated with the TSIO? Clearly it does and people still care. That's all I'm saying. And obviously ESPN and the SEC recognize it too.

Yes ESPN cares. And in a show of desperation they put you on upset alert.

I told you why

I know this is what you want to believe but that doesn't make it so. You have clearly lost touch with reality if you think a rivalry game that nobody outside the two states gives a shite about means more than ESPN than not splitting the demographic for the night game.

And ESPN is in the business of measuring what people care about and tailoring their programming accordingly. They obviously felt like the Bama - Tennessee game was the primetime play this weekend.

Cool story bro.
But ultimately for ESPN, it's all about ratings which equate to ad revenue.
That's all they really care about.
History and prestige mean jack shite without ratings.
We'll see if Bama/Tennessee get better numbers than LSU/Carolina did last weekend. Impossible to know if LSU/TAMU would outperform Bama/Tennessee. We can't both play at the same time. ESPN made their bet.
I'm not hurt about it or whining about it. It's a calculated business decision by ESPN. Nothing more and nothing less.
Don't let the way ESPN is promoting your game confuse you. Prestige and history may help them sell the game but at the end of the day the decision was based solely on the bottom line.
Not really much different than how bowl games make their choices. It's a business.

Exactly it's a business. And you put the most popular product on at the time when advertising is most expensive, in primetime under the lights. The people love a rivalry...

Alabama-Tennessee rivalry...
The interest in this game is very high. Just look at how much it's talked about on here

Which is why the TSIO is primetime and LSU gets breakfast slot.

You are extremely delusional and although part of me wants to run you out of this thread like i did the "Are LSU fans more jealous of the Tenn - Bama Rivalary.." thread, I have things to do.

lol. ESPN is in the business of making money you dolt. You do that by capturing as big an audience as possible - do you think it would be a smart business move to split the viewing share of the 2nd largest state in the country with another network that shares the same parent compant?
But okay, it's the TSIO. Greatest rivalry game ever. The entire country will be glued to their TV to watch the mighty TAHD ROLL

There's no guarantee that ESPN's bet will pay off.
Your game could (and likely will) be over by halftime. LSU/A&M could be a fight to the finish.
LSU/A&M in the regular season is an unknown quantity right now. You have to go back to the mid 90s to find TV ratings for a regular season game and those were so one sided its not comparable. ESPN picked up the game a lot in the 80s but it was a completely different era.
I could just as easily argue that ESPN went with a game they had much better metrics on.
You seem to think that by ESPN picking your game means they know for a fact that UT/Bama will produce better ratings. No one can know for sure. UT/Bama could be a snoozer by halftime.
They made their bet. It's hardly a sure bet.
Whereas CBS had no trouble declaring this year's LSU/Bama game as theirs.
Wonder why...
quote:
CBS just sent a release saying last night’s game between Alabama and LSU was the second-most viewed regular-season game in network history. It drew an 11.9 rating or a 21 share if you’re up on TV lingo.
For perspective, last year’s Alabama-LSU game had a 4.4/10 in the game kicked off at 2:30 p.m. CT.
The only game viewed more was the Notre Dame-Miami game from 1989 that drew a 14.5/26. Remember, there weren’t nearly as many games on cable at that time.

No, we got the shaft because ESPN wanted to maximize its viewers. LSU/a&m was put on hold along with SC/Florida, therefor we Alabama/Tenn was the 3rd in line
ESPN already had Texas Baylor set for its primetime matchup, and if you have any common sense at all, you'll realize that it's all about money. Putting two games on at the same time and dividing your Texas market is a horrible business move.
So in short, SC/ Florida.. Then LSU/a&m, then your game

You seem bothered by this.
You do realize that ESPN isn't running a charity, right?
Do you understand capitalism?
Oh and...

Total crock of shite
Which part is wrong?
1. That ESPN put LSU/A&M at 11 so it didn't conflict with Texas/Baylor ?
2. That CBS put a hold on A&M/LSU and SC/Florida, showing that LSU/A&M WAS in fact a higher priority than your shitty rivalry?
