LSU better do everything they can to keep Chavis.

when "he gone" is used in a thread about Miles.. LSU nation is like
seriously, SEC would be so fricked if we could lure a guy like Chip Kelly or Petey if he returns to the college world.
Chavis needs to stay though. If we can find some talent to play football on the DL, his D is amazing

Would one of the Harbaugh (spl?). brothers look at LSU?

LSU would be smart to let any new HC know before they are hired that they seriously want Chavis to remain. HC's like to bring in their guys but Chief is more than worth keeping around, imo.
TBH, I've never minded Chief being at LSU. We don't play often (less so now) and aren't rivals. I tend to pull for LSU and Chavis a lot. I also pull for Coach Cutt as do most of fans. I suppose we're a funny group like that but you can say a lot of things about UT fans but you can't say we're not loyal to guys who give their all for us. Sure, you'll find some critiques from those who know no better than to criticize but that's not the majority. East, Tennesseans, in particular, admire blood, sweat, and tears and Chavis gave us all that and more.
And he still comes home a great deal. His family is and always will be here (both literally and fan wise) even if he never returns as a coach, he's one of us on multiple levels.

Chavis' dream job would be back home coaching for his idol the HBC.
But we don't hire no damn Dillon Lumbee Indians here no more ... so he's just gonna have to keep on dreamin'.

He turned down that job offer under Lou Holtz (according to Holtz on ESPN) so I guess you did try to hire a "Dillon Lumbee"
Which, I'm also sure is a racist term.

HEY... Only one of these is totally impossible.. There will never be 102,000 fans in Tiger Stadium ever... There are always about 15,000 who do not walk in until the 2nd quarter if possible. And by that time LSU is either 7 points down or 7 points ahead, eithe way, the max exodus begins so the most that could drink the spiked Kool Aid is about 87000...

I am appalled that you judge people based on their race which is no reflection whatsoever on their character or skill. In case you have not noticed, most of your team members are minorities. Perhaps you should ask Eric Berry, Al Wilson, Pat Peterson, Eric Reid, or countless others about Coach Chavis’ character or how he has helped them. Better yet ask the Tennessee fans (the real ones) or the LSU fans (the real ones) about their assessment. I was there on John Chavis’ final Vol walk. Literally, there were thousands of people chanting “Chief”. Many were very upset, and it was reflected in their faces. It was surreal, and the result of the recognition of decades hard work and accomplishment- something that you are obviously incapable of recognizing. It was a display of gratitude. Of course, this was not reported, because how do those who market the inexperienced with manufactured images combat that which is genuine.

We will gladly let him take over whenever Ellis Johnson retires.
