You haven't been reading Tiger Rant. There are a decent number that want him as coach - but that is most likely because they're happy about Miles being gone and we won our first game in very dominant fashion. Some wanted him as the coach before the game even started, so people are just excited because Les is gone. It's like wanting the backup QB that has seen very limited action and looked good - that QB is always God-like until they get a lot of opportunities and it doesn't always go great. I say let the season play out - if they look like they did Saturday 90% of the time, I could see tossing his name into the hat.

I hope O wins out and they hire his dumbass

You realize that would mean he beat Ole Miss, Arkansas, Alabama, aTm, won an SEC Championship over Tennessee and MAYBE, MAYBE somehow sneak into the playoff or at worst a big bowl game.

...yeah, I mean, I'd hire him too.

o. LSU is basically unmeltable the rest of the season. If they lose, "oh well, we'll have a new coach next year". If they win, "woohoo!" They won't exactly turn on Coach O, they will simply not hire him for next year. If Coach O turns them around to the point they actually win the west, then and only then, will they consider hiring him.The only thing I see really upsetting LSU to the point they might have a melt this year, is an unpopular coaching hire

No matter who ultimately gets the job there will be a rebirth of negatigers over the choice. We all know that.

As to whether I want O as HC, it's a wait and see thing for me. I love his ferocity and his swagger and most importantly his love for LSU, but he's gotta beat some stout teams to earn the job. 6-2 with a win over Bama gets him the job but that's a hard, hard road. Eight days in, he's done everything he needs to do.

And if we're going a little overboard with the happy melt, y'all just can't understand what a pleasure it was to watch an offense get their plays called, get lined up correctly, maintain communications with the sidelines. And do it as if those were simple things, as if those things should be taken for granted.

While I agree with the spirit of your post, let's face it, LSU fans are never "unmeltable".

We'll melt over traffic if nothing else.

I'm and outsider, and easy/smooth offensive communication from the sideline to the field was visibly noticeable....just better offensive operation in only one week.

I missed watching the clock click down as the LSU QB looked nervously and confused at the sideline waiting for a call

Your guys looked prepared, that's pretty damn good coaching in only one week.

If Coach O goes 6-2 but with close/tough losses vs Bama + other good team

He get the job?

True. Trust me, if we were to go to The Swamp and get blown out, there would be melting and the Coach O parade would be over real fast. But it probably wouldn't be quite as bad as usual just knowing that we could get a new coach at the end of the season.

It looked good only fear is did we just out man Mizzou or did we out coach them. Because we learned we aren't running through a stacked box vs rest of west mainly Bama

Is a good way to describe the difference in LSU's offense.

It's amazing over the years the things we've had to put up with as LSU fans that we all could see were major issues that Les just never saw fit to correct. This was a MAJOR one. The "Break the huddle with 15 seconds left" and subsequent "Stare to the sideline with 7-8 seconds left to make adjustments" was just so mind boggling stupid I dont know how after so many time outs called to save a delay of game OR the actual delay of games we got they never though that was an issue. Seemed like we were getting the snap off with 10-15 seconds left mostly when were trying last weekend. Very effortless and easy. The offense FINALLY for the first time in ages got into a rhythm. I have stressed forever sometimes the simplest offenses work now in CFB because it gets the offense into a rhythm. 6 drives of 75+ yards just is insane for a team like us.

I still can't believe the level of Stockholm Syndrome Les put on the fans. We just didn't even know better most of the time. This morning our local radio guys were talking about Les' ESPN interview and just how out of touch he still was. He said if he could pick one play to define his career at LSU it would be that play against Auburn because his guys fought all the way to the end. Nevermind that it was ANOTHER grossly mis-managed clock situation. Then they said if you watch Les after the 1st down catch he pulls the headset mic towards his mouth and asks "do we have any timeouts, what's the spot, should be spike it?" with 1 fricking second left. Unbelieveable.
