QUICK POLL: Mississippi State finished 9-4 in 2010, and #15 in the Country with a poor man's version of Cam Newton at QB. If Barrett Trotter were at QB for the Auburn Tigers that year, do they even match that mark?

Probably...Chris TOdd at QB the year before went 8-5...so one game is not that great of a difference.

You can't say that we would have beaten Bama and LSU. You just don't know.

Arkansas and Auburn went down to the wire as it was. Those would have been wins. 10-2 at the least.

They might not have ever been ranked 15th but they could've gone 9-4

We finished in the top 15 that year. I don't think one game is all we need to say that the team was pretty good.

No. Auburn had a senior laden team and talented players like Fairley to complement Newton. Even so, Auburn was in a dog fight in a lot of games. MSU's surrounding talent was not as good or experienced.

Just makin shite up and hopin it's correct huh?

Our defense was much better.

This. People forget that MSU was a dropped pick6 away from beating Auburn anyway that season.

Not sure about the pick 6, but we were a dropped pass from being inside the ten to tie the game or go for the lead.

AU had a very good and experienced OL along with an excellent front 7. Really don't remember if MSU's units were that calibre in 2010.

From what I remember they did. Their DB's were suspect but the opposing QB usually didn't have time to take advantage.

I love the one game example for a team's talent level.

If that's the case, then looking at the UAB game that year, you were more of a CONF USA type of team. Considering you were losing to them half-way through the 4th quarter. And if it wasn't for 3 UAB turnovers, you probably would have lost.

Auburn lead the SEC in run defense that year, buddy.

Our secondary was just horrid.
