If that is true then Malzhan needs to take a play from the old Bear Bryant playbook. He would always downplay his teams in the pre-season. Saban does the same thing to a lesser degree

Slow Southern Drawl voice filtered through whiskey and un-filtered Chesterfields: "Weeeellll......I dunno.....we gotta find us some football players.....dunno if our boys can beat 'dem boys.....hell, we'll be lucky to win a few games this a'year..."

Malzhan did down play it...he said over and over again we are inexperienced at a lot of key positions and thin on D. The normal coach speak about "if" we come together "if" some young players step up wasn't him over selling things. It was and still is the truth. Bottom line the QB play is terrible and nobody saw it coming. If we get decent play we are 4-1 with a tough road loss at BR and this thread doesn't exist. The same truth applies that if we get decent QB play the rest of the way we will likely win 6-8 games. The problem is we have no signs of getting decent QB play.

if Auburn manages to go 0-8 in the SEC for the 2nd time in four seasons, is Gus seriously not on the hot seat?

Gus should seriously be fired if they go 0-8 in the conference. There's absolutely no excuse for that two years removed from an SEC title and BCS Title game appearance, especially with all the expectations coming into this season

You guys have issues all over the field and the program that extend beyond the QB play....

same as well. Can you provide an answer for LSU's reason?
We arent

From Expansion on we are very consistent:

92-94= absolute dogshit consistently

95-98= very consistent solid top 25 team

2000-present= Gorila with a chainsaw for a penis with our "terrible years" being 8 wins

Auburn

from expansion on

This is the first time Gus has been a major head coach. Of course he's on it if they go 0-8. These gimmicks, I call it frat ball, just isn't sound to me. The biggest thing I've noticed about Malzahn's offense is if he doesn't have an elite, 4.4 QB running the offense it is basically dead in the water because it is soley based on misdirection. He'd be better off with Johnson playing.
His offense is akin to the wing T that was popular in the 80's. All backs going a different direction and getting a step on the defenders who have to decide who has the ball. Right now he has a running back and drop back QB. There is absolutely zero threat of White beating you running. That offense is immensely easier to stop than it was with Marshall. This is akin to Chris Todd, Barrett Trotter or Clint Mosely running it which was no problem to stop.

Yep. Guess he's right about karma, because their program has been and will always be a big, heaping pile of dog turds.

If they had tempered expectation, probably not. But they were supposed to WIN the SEC and go to the playoffs this year. I can't judge the let down from here.
