“Media personnel were able to hack into the site and ‘find’ the code to pull up the bio,” Auburn officials explained in a self-reported violation submitted to the NCAA in March. “The bio for Evans was then publicized on media sites. [Auburn] never posted the information on its own site, and never intended for the bio to be visible.”

As the original poster stated, why would we lie? We didn't. Y'all may not like the hack, but it is appropriate and factual.

Did you actually read that story? He basically says it is no big deal as far as the NCAA is concerned

I thought it was made live. guess not.

So this was indeed somewhat of a "hack" in a lesser form.

Who was the first person to show the staged bio for him?

I know. That is what we are saying. If you did it, just admit it. If the "media" did it, say who did it.

Since this guy says no big deal, is he not a moron?

AU staged a bio for evans, like all schools do with potential signees. A journalist, fan, whoever was able to figure out potential bios by looking at the others URLs and then was able to pull up rashaans bio. The bio was never made live on the website

I think it was live. I think the Auburn people who wrote this are just sort of dumb when it comes to how the term "hack" would be perceived. Not uncommon, most people, especially adults, are pretty dumb when it comes to the internet.

Did you read the link? Nothing about not believing it as the OP title indicates.

One, the five-star recruit ended up signing with hated in-state rival Alabama.

And, two, it was a (very minor) violation of NCAA bylaws. AU self-reported the secondary violation, as revealed in a report released by the school Tuesday.

If they pulled it up on the web, it was live. It just wasn't linked.

it wasnt live on that a person could see it from the home page. you had to figure out how all the bios were formatted then apply the same formatting to his bio to see it

Yeah, I mean it was live on the web. As in,

www.auburn.edu/recruits/guy1 was linked but /guy2 wasn't.

This is an insanely trivial topic.

That being said, I can't speak to the NCAA's definitions, but the FDA considers a page "live" if you can type the url and it comes up. It doesn't have to be accessible from a home page or have a link to it anywhere. From an FDA perspective, even if you replace a page with a new page and make the link point to the new one, if you don't deactivate the old one and someone can type in a specific url to bring it up, the page is still "live".

Mistakenly posting the Evans bio was nothing. The laughable use of "hack" by AU is something
