FCS has a 16 team playoff, it is fun.

If the playoff made bowl games meaningless, fine. The solution to that problem isn’t going back to a worse criteria for determining the championship, it’s adding more meaningful games (which are playoff games)

Will this result in some fluke titles? Maybe occasionally. That’s not a new problem though, and I’d rather the fluke title be because you beat 3-4 really great teams in a row than the “had easy schedule and everybody else crapped the bed” flukes of the past

99 ... think about it. Va Tech and Nebraska both got shut out of the process. FSU was basically gifted the title.

99 season ?
2000 sugar bowl was undefeated FSU vs Undefeated VT

06-they got it right
12-1 Florida 12-0 Ohio State
USC finished 10-2 regular season

I didn’t mind the BCS era

I don’t want an 8 team playoff

It will make it too much like the NFL

There is absolutely not a single thing that was better about the poll era.

Necessary evil due to the few years when 3 teams have claims on the championship game.

If after 12 games plus a conference championship weekened you are only ranked 16th, sorry but you've lost your shot at a national title. Plus "fun" shouldn't enter the equation, it's about who is most deserving and who has proven the most along the way to be a champion. The 16th ranked team hasn't done it.

I did.

The problem with the BCS system was that they limited participation per conference.

No conference could send more than two teams. It was a communist/socialist share the wealth approach rather than a merit based system.

Can't really complain if you lost at least 2 games.

LOL

Auburn beat like 5 teams while they were ranked in the top 10 in 2004

I was just referring to the way they determined the two who played in the title game

I was fine with how the BCS determined 1 and 2 and they played eachother

The 2004 season and what they did to Auburn changed everything and we can never go back there again.

That was the BCA era and was not good. I miss the bowl era too. The problem was that Bowl's were signing contracts with schools too early resulting in bad matchups. Jan 1 used to be a glorious football holiday.

If you are logical and can remove yourself from CFB fandom; allowing sports writers to crown a champion was the most bullshite move in sports

Well that hasn't been the case since the BCS and CFP.

Auburn got robbed. That was complete collusion.

USC would've beaten the sh*t out of Auburn. Auburn BARELY beat Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl---BARELY.

USC had to call off the horses in their 55-19 rout of #2 Oklahoma for the national title.

What I don’t understand about the Poll era is they basically crowned a champion before
Bowl games

You could be an SEC team go 11-0 , already crowned national champ and then gonlose in the sugar bowl , but still be national champ

The NCAA didn't count bowl game stats for the longest time so that probably had something to do with it.
