All we have heard about is what they lost. And they lost a lot. They only return 4 starters from the offense, actually. They also only return 2 starters on the OL. That's a big deal considering this division does not frick around when it comes to playing defense ('cept aggy, obviously). And teams like LSU will be rushing the edges this year moreso than in recent past. The Dawgs will have to get their OL play figured out really early on.

BUT they have 8 juniors and 3 seniors (1 being the only proven QB in the division) who will be starting on offense. And the defensive 11 consists of 5 seniors and 6 juniors, and they return players who accounted for 11 of their 16 interceptions last year on defense. These guys all played.

IMO, the board is sleepin' on the Dawgs. And for them, it all comes down to OL play. If they don't get it, it could be a long season. If they do get it, they could win 8-9 games.

Can't wait for next Saturday.

I think you're on to something. As the MSU fans have been trying to tell us, they've lost a lot of starters, but their projected replacements are seasoned players, not rooks. As an LSU fan, I hope I'm wrong, but I think the Dawgs could be pretty damn good again, and a tough out at their place.

Meh. Every other team has upperclassmen too. The premier programs often have to play young guys earlier though so the levels of experience may vary wildly.

For example, LSU has 4 seniors, 4 juniors, and 3 freshmen as starters on offense and 3 seniors, 6 juniors, and 2 sophomores on defense. All have either started for an entire year or played significantly and that's the difference in experience.

Most or all of those "juniors" are actually red-shirt juniors, meaning this is the fourth year in the program.

Most of those seniors are red-shirt seniors, fifth year in program.

All have significant playing time.

Our young guys are insanely talented and highly recruited players, too.

I think their defense is going to be better in yards per play allowed but they are going to take a step back in scoring defense from last year. Teams don't just have the #1 red zone defense 2 years in a row. Those things tend to average out.

I wish someone would change your computer dictionary that every time you typed melt, it was just not put a word because you abuse the shite out of a term that you apparently don't understand what it means. The rant has failed you in that you've been reduced to a homer that talks about melts and talks about being in people's heads and being daddy for teams you have never beaten since joining the conference. It is sad.

Predicted response: "melt melt melt, melt melt, melt melt melt. i can't believe I'm living in yer head rent free. aggy is daddy, melt melt melt melt.

MSU could possibly make it 2 in a row before going on another 15 year losing streak to LSU.

The real low point for LSU in 2014 was when Kentucky played Florida in the swamp way harder / more physical than LSU did at home.. That's when I knew Les was done. He's got 2-3 more years and I forsee LSU hitting a Tennessee type slump.
