It's not like the offense is playing with any type of advantage over the defense

Virtually every rule change in the past 5 years has been to the benefit of the offense.

The rule changes have definitely played a role in the scoring.

I'm sorry the days of 3 yards & a cloud of dust are over. It is what it is. Believe it or not Bama ran an offense last year that in previous years you wouldn't have seen & it was extremely successful. I'm personally glad to see us play in a high powered offense. The offenses under Tubs at times were terrible to watch.

Offense is just as much a part of the game as defense. Offenses have evolved to score more points. Maybe defenses should evolve and stop them or else they'll be left behind.

Not exactly. They changed the rules so that the defense has time to substitute in players

Go back to single platoon football with very limited substitutions.

Then we will find out who can play the game. It would reduce the weight of the linemen by at least 50 pounds on average. It also would allow scholarships to be cut to 50 or so.

We're going to get laughed at in this thread because we root for Alabama, but I agree.

It's not just the offenses though. Them, added to all the fricking rules specifically designed to ramp up the scoring, are really annoying. Yes, I know it's a personal problem.

DBs can't touch receivers. Hit a guy too hard and there's a chance of a penalty. Don't stare at a QB too hard, penalty.

I know it's really easy for me to say this because of how successful Alabama was at it but I really enjoyed watching Saban and Kirby play chess with the opposing offenses. To me, that's the most fun style of football.

I hope it has to do with Alabama being a bit down on defense this year, but my enthusiasm for the way the game is headed isn't like it used to be.

Question...why can't defenses sub whenever they want? Not complaining, would just like to know. It's disheartening to see some of Alabama's(and other teams) dynamic style be game planned around by simply keeping the same offensive guys on the field. Again, I know it's not a popular opinion and just a personal problem.

It's a result of the concussion studies. We're finding out that football is actually really, really terrible for you, so the rules are changing to mitigate the damage. Since the defense is the side doing the hitting, the damage-reducing rule changes are going to favor the O.

Sorry you don't like it, but football is going to continue in that direction unless somebody invents a revolutionary new helmet.

Just my opinion but I don't enjoy watching the offensive showdowns. Defense should be just as important as offense but right now its basically negated. Before you know it, Basketball scores will be the norm and the game will be ruined beyond repair. It'll be a finesse match to see which team is faster and luckier.

There needs to be rules added or changed to help the defense. Right now they can't even hit people half the time without a flag being thrown.

I bet you miss the set shots, hook shots and underhand free throws in Basketball also. Watching football in the SEC before Spurrier, was getting harder and harder to enjoy. Some schools are just late to the table.
