This is not true.

He could get a short contract, and then a second contract of multiple millions.

It's because he hasn't been ruled out as a suspect in a murder investigation. The real world isn't like CSI. People don't just keep on stacking boxes when the murder police show up.

I thought all drafted contracts were now 4 year terms and undrafted contracts were 3 years. Could be wrong.

Despite what his agent said about the "timing", he should've hopped a plane to Baton Rouge and cleared this shite up immediately if he had nothing to do with it. Even if innocent, his agent's decision may have cost him millions.

All undrafted free agent contracts are three years, and they can only get a max bonus of around $75,000.

If he's still available in the 3rd round, I hope the Giants pick him up.

Better to cost you millions than your life. He can make millions in football as long as he isn't in jail.

His ex gf and apparent baby mama is tragically murdered right before the draft. He has not been cleared although they say he is not a suspect. (Means he is a potential suspect as he has motive) He cant get this cleared in time so nobody is touching him.

If he is innocent really sucks.

Which suggest he may have issues.

Personal conduct policy and uncertainty - can't risk it

Someone will get a free agent steal at this point

Collins silence is what baffles me especially if he has no involvement in it

You mean everyone not named Jameis Winston?

Edit: should have read the rest of thread. However the NFL are huge hypocrites. They don't care about any DV or any other crime. Collins isn't being drafted because teams are scared he'd never get to play. Not because of his character or their image

honestly a lot of this is NFL gamesmanship

Its like chicken the decided to let this guy drop and someone is going to get a steal, but they don't know who is gonna snap first and take him. Its how low can you go.

Even if there is a "risk" at a certain point you are drafting guys that won't even make the roster.

The fact that the police say you aren't a suspect or a person of interest means jack squat. They can turn around the next day and put cuffs on your wrist.

Plus, the police LIE. They lie to try to get you to say things that are self-incriminating. And the Supreme Court has said this is perfectly constitutional.

"Hey La'el, why don't you come in and talk with us. What? No, OF COURSE you don't need a lawyer. We've told you that you're not a suspect, why would you need a lawyer? Unless, of course, you're telling us there's some reason you need a lawyer?"

Additionally, usually when women are murdered its by a family member, current or former husband, current or former boyfriend, or father of their child(ren). It just statistically is.

So I find it quite curious that the police have "eliminated" Collins as a suspect.

Which is why I think the police are lying. And why I think NFL teams are thinking the same way.
