Also, I hate Ole Miss. Half my family went there and wouldn't shut the hell up last August.

I like Oxford and visiting Ole Miss but the sheer delusion of the OP and his kind in thinking that they attend(ed) some world class institution is why people hate Ole Miss. There's just this weird, elitist vibe that is not warranted there.

They're overcompensating, hoping you won't notice how mediocre everything there is. Also, they have a lot of shame about their racial past.

I've known a few Ole Miss people, and every one of them went out of their way to talk about Oxford and Ole Miss like it was some otherworldly place full of unique treasures. It isn't. Its a good college town, but most every glowing thing you find written about it is written by Ole Miss people. There is a genuine ingrained "try way too hard to convince others that we don't suck as bad as they think" with Ole Miss people, and it comes back to their shame about a lot of things in Mississippi and about Ole Miss.

Just last week I was reading a little story about Oxford in Departures Magazine. Sure enough, its written by Marc Smirnoff, "Ole Miss person". Google him. Interesting biography, interesting firing from the Oxford American magazine. The magazine is based at UCA in Conway, Arkansas now, because the "literary community" in Oxford and Mississippi couldn't keep it afloat.

To call Marc Smirnoff an "Ole Miss person" is a little disingenuous. It's not like he's an alumni or even from Mississippi. He's from California and from my understanding the only reason he ever stayed in Oxford is because his car broke down and he got a job at Square Books where he met a bunch of famous authors and got the idea for the magazine.

The Magazine was given more than it's fair share of money, he (Smirnoff) just sucked at running a magazine.

Ha Ha....This is a set up right?

How about the fans. Yep, lofty expectations from fans that do not understand what it takes to build and maintain to top tier program. No jr., not in th 50's nad 60s , but modern day top tier (backeup up with National Championship) in the modern era. Then OP fans try to put OP in the conversations with LSU, Bama, Auburn, Georgia, SC, Florida. Win, year in and year out and throw in a few SEC champions and 1 or 2 national champions. OP is like at snotty nose little brother who wants to play with the big boys. OK OK, so you sneak up and beat LSU, FL, and a couple of others, but what about the entire resume? 10 win seasons 80% of the time, BCS Bowl Wins, SEC Champions (no we are talking football so do not bring out Chest, Jump Rope, Tennis etc.) See a pattern .........

When people think of Ole Miss and minorities, they think of the James Meredith noose incident and the idiots near-rioting after Obama won reelection. Not whatever statistics the OP was hiding behind.

We had a black football player before you. AU did as well. And we've never had confederate flags waived in the stands (in my lifetime) or a plantation owner as a mascot.

So who's going to start the SEC-R topic "Which SEC Program Has The Most Black Friends?"
